records are there to be broken, I’d make India heavy favourite though right now. Red ball application and concentration is sadly lacking through the team bar the captain, but that’s for another day let’s see if we can knock over the last msn and chase this down!
If we end up 200+ for not many wickets and the pitch stays flat, I could see them getting twitchy and regretting not picking one of the world's best spinners.
If we don’t at least draw this test I’ll be very disappointed. The pitch is doing absolutely nothing and it’s going to be glorious sunshine tomorrow. No reason we can’t bat on this.
Very few teams have ever chased down 370. After the first innings we were 100 runs short on a batting wicket and India were always 4 wickets in front of the average in their second innings. We ain't winning this game.
I sat listening in the garden, 2019 expecting it to end any moment! There will be plenty hoping it can happen again including me and most of a full oval tomorrow.
They do. I'm hopeful he can improve his bowling in less seamer friendly conditions to take that next step. He's done well in this test on a flat pitch so fingers crossed. I'd still have Curran in as the current line up is one paced, and completely lacking in variety. They're 4 great bowlers but there's no situation where you need them all in 1 side... It actually really p*ssed me off last summer when pitches went flat and all Root could do was ask An already overworked Stokes to bowl 8-10 overs in a row of bouncers to make something happen. How we have 4 pace bowlers over 6 foot and not one can bowl a decent spell of hostile bouncers is beyond me.
That can be forgotten for this test now, it's his batting that's required. You wouldn't have Curran to replace woakes surely. If wood is fit I would have him instead of Overton. But we're batting now so Overton's the man. Added bonus, he can't bowl at Scarborough!
I'd have played Curran instead of Overton here. Mark Wood should be wrapped in cotton wool. He's our only capped genuine pacer with any chance of being fit for Australia. We'll need to consider taking a couple out of Mahmood, Carse, Jamie Overton and Fisher on the tour as you need at least one quick in every Test over there.
3.33 runs an over tomorrow do we stick or twist, bl00dy go for it. Got to keep the run rate up without giving wickets away. Day off work tomorrow and a fridge full of beers.
In my opinion there is no way Woakes should be left out, I am not sold on Curran & Woakes"s performance this test should warrant selection
On that surface, we should go for. If we lose a few quick, then dig in. There is no way any test team should be losing 10 wickets in a day on it, especially if they are playing for the draw. It's a day 5 pitch in name only...
