This "Hundred" is the end of civilization as we know it. Same with "Racing Leagues" and the "Shergar Cup". All retrograde steps. Bah! Humbug!
I think the horses should have their traditional colours in the race cards. I honestly think it's to throw punters off the change into team colours. It also gives off a false impression. The best horse is out to win the race. The more casual punter may be fooled by the charade that it's a team event.
White ball suits night cricket which the viewing/ attending public like, me included. Old white balls swung a bit but they use 2 now to keep it clean and visible. The game's stacked in the batsman's favour, which is a contradictory statement given englands top order. Perhaps produce a white ball that swings like a red one.
Its a long while ago, but I'm pretty sure the white ball did use to swing. We're talking the era of DeFreitas bowling, but he used to get movement from it. I'm not sure what happened for it to swing much less. I don't know that much about the white ones, but there has been a duke v kookaburra tussle going on for a long time in the red ball format.
157-5 Pant out with a usual loose flamboyant shot. An LBW turned down, didn't review. Looked out but Rahul hid his bat so would likely not have been given. Just missed a gimme run out. Jadeja absolutely miles out, threw at the stumps (think it was Lawrence but only fleetingly saw it) and missed rather than throwing it to Buttler. Robinson bowling pretty well.
Just missed a run-out attempt from Lawrence. Be reight if Lawrence and Sibley decide the test match in India's favour.
Use of reviews is a skill within the art of captaincy Root has been better than this previously. Yesterday's reviews were in hope and desperation. Radio commentators seemed to be baffled by the last one. Richie Benaud said "the art of test match captaincy is 10% ability 90% luck". "Don't try it without the 10%"! Regarding your other thread, all the best to you and your wife.
England are spineless. If I was betting on this now. I'd say India will get a lead of 120-150 and won't have to bat again. That would show just what a shower this England side are because this should be at least a draw due to the weather.
I've never rated India in England when the ball swings since the time of the great indian batsmen passed. I've watched them so many times waft and be too aggressive and give away a whole innings. I don't see india getting huge totals in any game. But they may well only have to bat once a few times if our batting doesn't markedly improve.
Every blue moon, the fielding side may leave a helmet on the pitch which the ball hits.... thats often enough to be our second highest scorer ;-)
