I’m not convinced he’s the right man. Think it might be time to approach a foreigner again. Very few English coaches that inspire me.
Best team won. Kane should not have started. backing off at 1-1 despite having 2 players with fresh legs was suicidal. New coach now and world cup in 2 years. most of our team are young and will still be available.
Happens in the majority of games yet teams get away with it so teams continue to do it. So nothing will ever change.
Can't be doing that, criticism of refs! Protected species. Despite the fact they're all ***** and it's not hard
Hes just being a wind up merchant again. Saying Spain weaseled their way through by odd goal whilst being an England fan is insane... It's the record for most European cup wins for a nation so they will most certainly be remembered. As for the match, I think Southgate cost us that game by starting Kane - it didn't work (again). Thought we defended well first half and did okay going forward. Late subs. We should enjoy it because really, if we are being honest, we didn't deserve to get that far. We were extremely rubbish in the group stages, and got fortunate with the draws (compared to Spain, who also topped their group) right up until Netherlands, where we had a good first half and overall it's the best we played and we deserved to win that game. But lots to critisice Southgate on regarding his inital formation/style in group stages, then did well to change it, but still picking Trippier & Kane through out was a mistake. Making subs far, far too late a big issue. I do think it will be revealed at some point that Kane has been injured - though that would put more pressure on Southgate because then why play him? He's been atrocious this tournament. Just my opinion, of course Spain fully deserved it, they've beaten Italy, Croatia, Germany, France and us (the favourites) to win this competition, they've won every game and been the best side by some margin throughout the tournament. Southgate should go now, I wanted him gone a while ago, as did many of course. He's done an excellent job at uniting the squad and bringing some togetherness within the squad. 2018 was a brilliant ride with him. I can understand why we didn't sack him after Italy (despite him being the reason why we lost), but some recent results including 4-0 drubbing against Hungary, the Iceland game, and now in tournament football playing very poor for the most part, it's time to leave.
And in injury time after 90 minutes, there must have been about 30 seconds of football played in 4 minutes btw. To blow that soon was ridiculous.
We probably played as well as we could have hoped for tonight. Before I see greater potential amidst a list of definite available replacements , I would not ditch Gareth after tonight. But his luck in this tournament just simply ran out.
Of course Mr Negative made a lot of weird decisions and mistakes along the way, but you wouldn't have made it this far without him... I'm gutted for Southgate in particular, I would have loved to see him win after getting regularly $hit on by so many England fans, but Spain were the best team of the tournament without a doubt.
Never trust the FA to pick the right man Southgate got the job through default, he's been an unmitigated disaster and don't forget he's literally poxed his way through tournaments and on the way he's destroyed any belief of future success, there is no doubt Gareth Southgate is a nice man but, he is so far away from being a footballing manager it truly defies belief.
