Well that rules The Netherlands out. You don’t win tournaments with entertaining football. Apparently.

Which tournament have they just won?...they've lost a few in the past mind.

4 teams remain. England are one of them. I suppose ultimately that's all that matters.

We've been fortunate enough to avoid the 'big' sides yet again, Spain, France, Portugal, even a rejuvenated Germany to reach this far again. Only 2 more games... big test incoming though!

Yeah you've got to be in it, to win it.
And we're still there, and we're still in with a chance. Can't ask for much more than that to be honest. :)

Isn't that only half right though Frog, to be honest ?.
Some of those teams you say we've been lucky to avoid, have been arguably just as disappointing as we have.

Sneaked it again. Southgate luckiest head coach ever. Watched it in Chennells. Time they dropped Kane for someone who can actually run and will stay UP TOP. Foden done sod all in an England shirt yet again.

    Winning.

England have been playing mediocre football. And getting through.

With Collins at Barnsley, it was the same. But ultimately wasn't enough.

With Val, it was steroid injected football. I'm not sure we ever got to see that in person did we?

Winning is the most important thing. It trumps everything else.

Even if you don't win, at least if you played with sparkle and energy and character, you'll be fondly remembered. Glavin..Banks..McCarthy etc..

So we'd better win this Euro tournament. Otherwise on the basis of the football we've played, it's in the dustbin.

We can only beat whats in front of us, true mate, (or atleast draw and beat on pens:D), but there's no denying we *should* be where we are based on the teams we've played. Switzerland drew to the Scots, and the Scots were embarrassing at this tournament, I'm still just a tad worried bud that's all. I didn't expect the Dutch to do great either but they're here too, and on paper I think they definitely have the best defence so I do wonder how Gareth will set up, especially since we wont be playing on paper:p How do you think they'll play ?

Just goes to show people want to see performances and attacking football aswell as just results. Play to win. Like stendels football always entertaining always wanted to score more goals.

Yeah Frogger, I do rate the Dutch (Holland of course lol), and I was glad that we avoided them in the previous round.
And I'm still not sure by the way, how they work out the 3rd placed teams fixtures, and who gets to play who etc.
We should respect them obviously, but we've got to be confident. :)

I was about to post something similar. Southgate is very lucky. He changed nothing until we were behind. Only subbed Kane when he was bundled into touch. Why Foden was still there in extra time, I don’t know. The players he brings on late seem to always perform better than those they replace, but come the next game, he reverts to his favorites.

Anyway, Wednesday is a midday game for me, so it looks like the Kezar Pub is calling. COYRW&B!!!

They had the fewest attempts of any of the four semi finalists and went through via an own goal...the Turks were unlucky.

Perhaps that is part of his thinking, that the subs he is bringing on are having a positive effect from the bench. If they start it doesn't necessarily equate to them having that same effect from the start, and the subs he then uses may not have the same effect.

    Just musing.

It was nice to go into a shootout pretty confident. Saka was the only one I was nervous about due to his previous miss. I had full confidence in Palmer, Toney, Bellingham & Trent.

Does he bring Guehi back in and go to a four at the back or stick with wing backs?

They were five fantastic penalties. Don't think I've ever seen better as a grouping in a shoot out.
    Maybe Cardiff 2007.
