The thing with this is how subjective musical taste is. Everyone can list a song they'd prefer or is among their favourites, and that will vary through demographic and genre. I suspect, taking BFC's use of Timerider away, I doubt one single person would if asked, choose Timerider as a favourite. And we certainly couldn't all agree with any majority what song should be used instead. But it works. A good few years back now, a survey outlined just how popular it was and how the start of fanfare linked into it. I can't recall the exact numbers, but it was emphatic that people saw Timerider as our tune, our anthem. Despite Patricks loathing of it, it returned and has been with us largely since. I never listen to Timerider anywhere else but when at Oakwell (or Wembley!) but it still makes me feel at home. Its familiar, its unique. And just because it can be changed... it doesn't mean it should. You can take our managers and coaches, you can sell our players... again..... and again.... and again and again.... but you can't mess with our Timerider!
Started going about 15 years and it’s all I’ve known, there’s definitely an association with it. I wouldn’t ever choose to listen to the song outside of Oakwell but I imagine if I did, I’d probably get goosebumps or something. It stays for me.
