    I don't have a silver bullet answer to all this either.

    It is somewhat concerning however that many on here seem to seek to rely on the representatives of Germans and Italians and Spanish and many others in Europe with (in my opinion) less than gold plated democratic credentials than us, to plough their furrow and look after their best interests.

    We may be imperfect, but I reckon we're brutally scrutinised. Which keeps these political glory hunters at heel most of the time. Or at least found out.

    Your argument above is one of the compelling ones for out. But in or out is a huge jigsaw though isn't? That's what people are wrestling with. And my issue with the democracy argument is that our system is one entirely based on winning votes in a handful of swing seats in middle England, moderated by an unelected second chamber and presided over by an unelected head of state. And that's before corporate interests are factored in.
