We can argue all day. I'm not his mate neither do i condone what he did or think that he should be allowed anonymity. I do believe he should be able to rebuild his life and work in his profession, whether that's as a Butcher, baker, candlestick maker or footballer otherwise we might as well execute anybody found guilty of anything. Only my thoughts like

He hasn't made a mistake he raped a young woman that's not what I consider a mistake he hasn't even said he was sorry. He hasn't paid his dues either as he is only half way through his sentence.

I am pretty sure I don't work with any unrepentant rapists or even anyone out on parole but that's not relevant anyway. There are loads of professions where you can't continue for much lesser offences. The law doesn't prevent him from playing football but it would from teaching working in any capacity in the medical profession or legal profession for a start for much lesser offences than rape

I wonder what profession you would all allow him to work in, or given his crime would you never allow him to work again anywhere. Just a genuine question and apologies for calling you all selfish cnuts no need for that.

Let's look at the facts before a war starts:

    1) a footy player has been found guilty of rape & has been sent down
    2) he's served sufficient time & been released from prison as he's no longer viewed as a threat to society
    3) he has to sign the sex offenders register & have face to face meetings with his parole officer
    4) he maintains his innocence & therefore doesn't apologize for his actions

Now, I would never apologize for summat if I believed I was innocent, no one would, a lot of posters are saying that he's never apologized & therefore shouldn't play again. How many of these people would change their minds if he did apologize?

Personally I think a lot of what's written on this forum is *****, the man has been released from prison because he's not considered a threat!! This is a key point to remember. The chances of Ched nipping into the ponty at halftime to rape a lass that's taken his fancy are slim, but that seems to be what most people think, I noticed someone saying "how many women work in Oakwell?" And you're right there's loads, and I'm sure Ched's rubbing his hands at all those new victims he can sink his teeth into.

Please people, your opinions are your opinions & I'm not saying you're wrong but many of you are making yourself look like prize idiots with this witchunt. If he's playing football he's in the public eye, If he becomes a painter/decorator or whatever he qualified as in the nick then he'd be in daily contact with other women. Either way he'll be a social pariah, and it seems some people won't rest until he's signing on every fortnight until he dies.

On my last note I'd take him at this club, the idea of prisons in this country is to rehabilitate offenders. So let's let Ched get back to playing

    You reds!!

It's a good question, one I am struggling to answer to be honest, because I also don't get all the "if he was a plumber/plasterer etc he would be allowed to go back to it" - I certainly wouldn't want a convicted rapist in my house carrying out work with my wife/daughter in it. Likewise if I owned or managed a building firm I wouldn't want to employ a convicted rapist and send him into customers houses.

He should be allowed to work, just not as a footballer where he will come into contact with children in hospitals, academy lads, young fans. All these people will be looking up to him, do you not find that wrong?

I'm not going to go down the whole female staff route - any profession will have female staff members, so it's not relevant IMO.
