If Wikipedia is wrong, you can actually go in and correct it. hence the reason why you get all the spoof statistics cropping up.

Incidentally, Mick Wadsworth became Mel Machin's head coach at a time when he was a big exponent of the "Charles Hughes" theory of football i.e. most goals are scored in the box therefore keep hoofing the ball in the box and you'll score more goals.
We changed our style under him and cultured players like Owen Archdeacon started wellying the ball up for that Pearson feller (ex Owl) we signed from Leeds. So even though he may have had a good record as a temporary manager, I think he was partly responsible for the demise of Mel Machin

Dont get me wrong my description of him as our most successful manager is very tongue in cheek. He was definitely from the Howard Wilkinson school of coaching and took POMO to heart. Had a long spell in the England set up and worked with Bobby Robson at Newcastle.

Can you tell me who played number 7 in our 1-0 victory over Swindon at Oakwell on the last day of the 92/93 season?

It's missing from the stats in what I presume is the same 'book' some have referred to on this thread.

    Thanks.

I've read that Tim Ward took over on March 1st on one website and on March 26th on another. Can anyone fill me in on the dates involving the transition between Seed/Ward and any interim bosses?

Bob Shotton was acting manager after Angus Seed. Tim Ward was offered the job on the 30th March and the players were told on the 31st March.

First time I've ever heard that, my old mate. I bow down to your knowledge without hesitation, though. Anyone would think you had inside information!:D:D

So have I got this right?

Seed was in charge from Villa defeat on Feb 27th '37 to the Plymouth Argyle defeat on Feb 28th '53?

    Bob Shotton took the next four games (Leeds - D, Luton - L, Birmingham - L, Bury - L)

Ward wasn't in charge until the Blackburn defeat on April 3rd?

    Haha, yes I suppose.

I remember it well though and it sticks in my mind. On Wiki as well theres a fair few other occasions missing from my old mans record. The One after Bobby Collins and then the one after Allan Clarkes 2nd stint before mad Mel.

Angus Seed died on Feb 7th after plymouth away in the fa cup so Shotton in charge from rotherham on Feb 7th Wards first match would of been Blackburn yes
