Official figure at Enfield was........... 7.500............ the bloke with the beard was Kev Nutting. Another away day in 1976 was at Workington when the Reds won 7-1 and there were 10 fans on the official supporter's coach.
away at Sunderland in Full Members About 20 of us. We got there late and got cheers from the home fans.
Old Red -: Excluding Cardiff and Wembley That's the game.
I went with three lads from Kexbrough. Brian Howard and a couple of his mates.
I remember on the Friday night asking the missis if it was ok for me to go to the match and then have a night in London. She said yes it was ok with her. I said good because they are picking me up at 7.30 in the morning.
In the second half when we were 3-0 up a couple of hundred Reading fans came into our end. I thought we were going to get a kicking but they just started chanting "Arsenal, Arsenal".
Finished the night in the Nell Gwynn Club in Soho and walked up to our hotel in Kings Cross.

RE: Official figure at Enfield was........... Only 7,500 it seemed more than that.
That match at Workington, was it tha one when Micky Butler broke his leg (or was that the previous seasons game up there).... and that official coach was a mini bus?
Kev Nutting, thats the lad, sadly, passed away a few years ago.

Butler broke his leg the season before, i missed the 7-1 as was away on an army cadet course in Norfolk with school, went to the previous season, did we win 2-1
RE: Old Red -: Excluding Cardiff and Wembley Prefered the pubs round Paddington, myself (always had some good live music)..... it was handy when we played Brentford, we always parked the coach at Paddington Station and caught the underground out to Griffin Park, then back for the night out.
Kev Nutting was a great bloke, looked like Pavoratti, once went to a steve hillage gig with him and another hippy lad from the supporters club, steve, a schoolteacher in leeds, stopped over the night and kev put on the t shirt i had bought at the gig, size small, bloody thing as never the same after that
RE: Butler broke his leg the season before, i missed the 7-1 You could be reight, it was either 2-1 or 3-1 .... so that 7-1 must have been when Micky Butler got an hat trick.
John Peachey scored the hat trick in the 7-1 win I know 'cos I was there (nicked from Max Boyce circa 1979). Butler broke his leg at Workington the previous season in the 2-1 win. Incidentally, that was the only game where Peter Price and Mick Butler scored for us in the same game. 'Big Lil is a sad, old anorak' should be my new signature!!
RE: John Peachey scored the hat trick in the 7-1 win 'Big Lil is a sad, old anorak' should be my new signature!!
Maybe, but, I bet tha did better than me and my 'friend' at that quiz night, Don's Right when he says the music questions are for the 'older person'

I work on the principle that if I answer 'Billie Holliday' to every music question, one day I'll get one right.
