then you missed a treat... sublime performance from Robbie at LB is rewarded by MOTM sponsor asking his young son (well, that's my guess) who he thought was dead good. Followed by announcement and yet another shaking of heads from crowd and no applause whatsoever (as ppl tend to if they agree...well, it seems so to me) I laughed. As did the bloke next to me, who'd also spent the match dissecting said MOTM's crossing "ability".
RE: then you missed a treat... People wishing to attend football matches ought to be made to take exams before being allowed into the ground. That way it might save me getting so wound up at people's comments/MOTM choices.
I thought he wasn't arguing against the use of subs, but how they were used. I got the impression that he didn't mind the likes of a sub used to cover for injury, but was against the subs used when Freddy or any other player went off for a 20 minute break.
To be fair, that was his point (he didn't know Jones was injured). However, my annoyance is that no one has resorted to dirty tricks more than the Aussies in the past. (Take McGraths last ball at Edgbaston). What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. It's nice to see them whinge anyhow. They call us whinging poms, now the boot's on the other foot.
yeah like atherton's ball tampering and gooch slapping the ball away from the stumps with his hand mmmm
He has been complaining all season about the temporary subs Our bowlers tend to take a short "comfort" break avery so often (apparantly they drink lots to keep them hydrated) unfortunately for him the rules allow it. So we are playing by the rules and beating them - tough is all I can say.
RE: He has been complaining all season about the temporary subs so the next time your watching barnsley play, and a member of the opposition players gets injured barnsley kick the ball out, the opposition instead of throwing the ball back throw it to themselves and stick it in the net all your gonna say is its in the rules so tough?
"gooch slapping the ball away from the stumps with his hand" He was rightly given out for that. Handling the ball. Just the same as someone putting their leg in the way of the ball and given out lbw.
RE: "gooch slapping the ball away from the stumps with his hand" what about ball tampering that allowed?
Eh so nipping to the bog is equivalent to total unsportsmanship. Thats OK then. Bit amusing being lectured on sportsmanship by an Aussie
RE: Eh I just like to hear them whinge!! It's great! By the way Mr Aussie.. do you remember Greg Chappell bowling the last ball of a test underarm cos the opposition wanted one run to win? Great sportsmanship is that.
RE: Eh yeah funny how they all go to the bog after there overs not when on the boundary, when some other bowlers on strike
RE: Eh Can you explain how sporting Greg Chappell was, bowling an underarm ball to avoid losing a test? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. The Aussies - in the Border and Chappell eras invented gamesmanship. Keep whinging anyhow - it's great to see you suffer.
RE: Eh yup and neither will the kiwis, what about us holding gripes, there nothing worse than been beaten by the poms for us aussies champ
OK at the time "Leg Theory " was allowed. They changed the rules so you can only have I think 3 men behind square on the legside now.
you have no idea have you what was bad sportsmanship about legitimate bowling? didn't break cricket etiquette either
Ive plenty of idea being the only one to predict an England win in the ashes and having to stick up for England in the last 2 tests because people on here said they hadnt scored enough runs at the end of the first innings But back to bodyline Copied this from Wisden Finally in 1934 MCC issued a ruling: That the type of bowling regarded as a direct attack by the bowler upon the batsman, and therefore unfair, consists in persistent and systematic bowling of fast and short-pitched balls at the batsman standing clear of his wicket. That was the end of body-line bowling. also Larwood and Jardine didnt play for England again
