Why do you think they would make more money in London Hemsworth? Silverstone regularly gets 120,000 people for race day on F1 weekend. Every single one of those people has paid to get in to the circuit and then paid again if they sit in one of the grandstands. They estimate a similar number of people would watch the London Grand Prix. However, the London Grand Prix is a street circuit. In some places there'll be buildings on one side of the track, in others buildings on both sides of the track. No space for grandstands and precious little for people stood at the side of the track. The buildings themselves will be full of people watching out of the windows, from balconies and roofs, but these are private buildings: shops, hotels, office blocks, private residences. The owners of these bulings will be charging people to watch from there, but F1 won't be getting any of that money. They have no rights on what people do in the buildings adjacent to where a race is held. A good percentage of the attendance will be these people and, unlike at proper race circuits, their money does not go to F1.

    LONDON. Magnet for sponsors.
Also ticket demand would rise because it would be in London.
It would be the premier race or the year.
I'm not sure if it was on SkyF1 or bbc News but they were on about it on one of them.

Not sure what the figures were but they mentioned the expected figures and stuff.

Only in the minds of certain self-absorbed Brits. Personally I'd take Spa over any street circuit.

150,000 they reckon. I agree, the spectacle of London will pack them in and the new circuit goes past the parks so plenty of space for temporary grandstands, trees permitting. The Mall too is the start/finish and will be lined with stands, Whitehall is very wide and Parliament Square could have stands on 3 sides, slow part of the circuit though. The revised circuit plan is very well thought out for spectators, though I'm struggling with the anti-clockwise direction. Biggest problem is possibly trees in the way. If it means cutting down a significant number of trees, it's a non starter.

We'll hopefully have the Tories out and Eddie Izzard as Mayor by the time the race actually happens. :D
