it unfortunate for George that he was the first 'big' star to be taken up both on AND off the field.... He didn't have the support back them like the players have now. I wont deny that I have the feelings that he wasted the transplant and should have gone to someone else BUT it is still a sad, sad day. If you dont wish to respect the minute silence then that's your choice BUT leave people who wish to do it.
thankyou.. never been complimented like that before.. this is a forum by the way for people to express their opinions.. i dont respect drunks, especially one who recieved a second chance in life only to throw it all away again. some other poor man who wouldve been more worthy couldve had that liver..
RE: correct about opinions well thats nice to know.. at least you dont hide ur opinions mate.. unlike people who post as Guests...
I also think he wasted his talent. Spending all that time running about kicking a bag of wind when he could have been shagging more Miss Worlds. What a waste.
RE: a talent '10 Denari for that Gord?' 'Oh, go on - I'll throw in the red face for free' 'For free, eh' I bet Georgie's wake is going to be a right piss up.
RE: a talent are you going? I'm gonna give a miss. Out of respect. I'll definitely be invited, for my services to football and a kind of unspoken respect I think he probably had for me. 6 keepy ups in wrenthorpe park, january 1982.. I'll never forget.
RE: a talent Yep - I'll be there. He was my Uncle's mates cousins brother-in-laws dogs pups owners Aunties sons friends drinking buddy. No doubt my invite is already on the post. The BBC say that his organs will be donated. I hope I get the liver. If I squeeze it out on a Christmas Pudding it'll go up like Simon Westons head.
you use the world drunk for a man who had a alcohol adiction. Recieved no protection in his life from the dangers his fame brought. what exactly has george done in his life that makes you hate him so much. The minutes silence is to respect what he did on the pitch, and whatever way say about what more he could have done the fact is what he did was tremondous.
RE: Hmm The question was - if it was your father, would you be saying the same. You avoided it completely. I'll ask again, If your father died of the alcoholism disease, would you be saying the same?
I agree with you Tarnlad we are having a minutes silence for a footballer that was not even english and died many many years after his career ended. He was a wife beater and we are going to honour him? WTF is that all about? George best killed himself. He showed no respect for himself and had no consideration for his family, he was a drunk that always put his own pleasure ahead of his family and indeed the game. And yet he is going to be remembered in a minutes silence whilst ex england captains that lived a far more respectable life had their deaths ignored.
RE: I agree with you Tarnlad i kinda agree with ya tarnlad but he is a footballing legend but i think that not all clubs should have the minute silence
RE: my post or the minutes silence?? NT having a mins silence. We should had a mins silence for the doner of the kidney
RE: I agree with you Tarnlad your talking about one of the greatest footballers ever to live and defo in the top 3 of all time, so that is why the minutes silence is been asked! Regardless how someone dies, it is known as a mark of respect, and i'm sure his family would love to hear your opinions about him, becasue from what i can see anyone who knew him has not had a bad word to say about him despite his downfalls, but i suppose you all knew him better!? It makes me sick that people can speak so ill of someone who has died, especially when they did not even know them.
i'm sorry but my opinions of somebody does not change simply because they die I hated him when he was alive and my opinion of him is just the same now he is dead. Presumably you will be praising maggie thatcher when she dies?
i'm not asking to like him but slagging him off just after he has died is NOT what his family/close friends would like to hear, he has not commited a crime or affected us a general public, wheareas maggie did, you are making judgements on someone who you do not know, so why speak so ill of him! yes he did have a second chance and yes he did mess it up like many others have and many others will but is he not allowed to have made a mistake, becasue i forgot you and everyone else are perfect!
RE: Hmm sorry missed that mate. wasnt intentional.. i would feel the same if he was given the same amount of love and help that george best was given...
RE: i'm not asking to like him Why should people hate him - jealousy...pure jealousy - and the fact he played for Man Utd. I wish I'd a 100th of his skill.
