Im 21 but thats nothing to do with the pen/red card. there was contact, stopped a goal scoring chance and that means a red card.
This was a perfect opportunity for the powers in football to send out a clear message to the cheats by banning Young retrospectively and once again they choose not to tackle the single biggest issue on the pitch in the modern game. I watch Rugby union and to watch these cheating diving footballers who go down like they've been shot at any opportunity is an embarrassment to the game and an embarrassment on them as men. I really am starting to detest everything that football has become, it's a pale shadow of the game I grew up watching, a very cheap and nasty imitation of a once great sport.
To the FA and Hemsy Rules are for the adherence of fools and for the guidance of wise men. What ever happened to justice?
Nail. On. Head. I'll be at the Featherstone - Castleford Challenge Cup game on Saturday, reminding myself what real sport can still be, providing all involved care enough about the integrity of the game.
Whether it should have been offside or not is irrelevant in this case, the offside wasn't given and play continued, at that point Derry is adjudged to have brought down Young. The infringement occured in live play. You can debate whether or not it should have been a penalty, but the incorrect offside decision doesn't come into it.
Re: To the FA and Hemsy P.S. It's a contact sport, and contact itself is not automatically a foul. The trouble is the players' (and also now managers') shameful reactions to said contact. It's cheating, pure and simple, and it doesn't need understanding, a tweaking of the rules, or phasing out, it needs firmly stamping out (pardon the pun) by a dedicated FA regulatory body exercising zero tolerance. I can't imagine any of us despise anything more than cheating, particularly where it benefits the cheat, and I for one would be perfectly happy to give my time to reviewing footage of any/all contentious incidents that are identified, and dishing out long retrospective bans to the cheats. Wouldn't take long before things changed for the better. They do it because they know they'll get away with it, like the moral/intellectual pygmies they are.
