Re: Gally, can this be handled by the trust? TBH I think it needs nailing soon before it gets out of hand, we were sat towards that part and as was being mentioned some little kids were attracted to it and if had kicked off properly they would have got hurt among the bigger bodies, there were also some older lads who appeared from nowhere for what seemed to be no other reason to have a kick at a steward. Their was also a young family towards the front where the dad was complaining that some bright sparks had been chucking stuff (that's definitely the ones with **** for brains) For me their would probably be faults on both sides, i.e. fans doing what they shouldn't and stewards going about their 'business' in the wrong manner and without any real authority. If it had happened in the seventies there would have been some coppers about who did have the authority , anybody who was properly misbehaving would have been dragged out by their arse and everybody could have gone back to watching the game. I mean that's what we actually go for isn't it?
I saw that aswell not once but on 3 or 4 occasions, grown men, not kids, shoving there mates into the backs of stewards with the intention of knocking them down the stairs, 1 steward went down quite a few but luckily for him stayed on his feet otherwise he could have been seriously hurt. Stewards might not be everyone's cup of tea and quite often cause there own problems but for adults to try and intentionally hurt them for trying to do there jobs is pretty shameful on there part
From what I saw from the ESL next to the Ponty was a steward acting 10 ton then dropping his arse after realising he had made a mistake. He then retreated to the front of the Ponty and was stood with a smug smile on his face for the remainder of the game. I was hoping he would try the same in the ESL after he was getting abuse and see how far he got the fat f.ucking w.anker.
You're right. The thing is that the stewards are probably under instruction to make people sit where their ticket says they should and there is a good reason for doing so - because this is the area where the potential trouble comes from, with smoke bomb throwers etc. The club and the police have a far greater chance of getting the right people when they are spotted on CCTV if they know who is sat where, because if necessary they can follow it up later - remember that the club has a name and address associated with every ticket they sell, whether that be a season ticket or a one off match day ticket purchase. If no-one is sat where they are supposed to be, that information is worthless. The problem is that there is a right way and a wrong way of going about these things.
What utter ****** that is!! I've not sat in my seat once in the last 2 seasons, I couldn't even tell you where my seat is.
Reading this thread has shocked me. When did the folk of Barnsley become so snobbish to people that might be a bit different to them? Just because a few lads want to have a sing with their mates at a game they are labelled as racist, unemployed, thugs, scum etc. Disgusted by some of the comments in this thread to be honest.
well watching that yesterday there were cases of out and out assault on some stewards that would have serious consequences on the club if it had escalated even just a little bit , you saying that's OK?
Are you sure he wasn't trying to eject the fan who was standing in the gangway jumping up and down and running up and down the gangway where he had already pushed a steward once?
They were individual incidents, if the stewards were bullying young lads then they deserved it, yeah. However people tarring that whole section of the Ponte with terms that I stated before is out of order.
I'm not certain but I think one of the lads who went to Dundalk was kicked out today. Which gives an idea of the type of fans the club will drive away if this continues. Yes he did, he's text me earlier!
Me, for talking to my mates at half time in an empty seat. 5'7" and 9 stone. Didn't ask someone their own size to shove about and kick out. Now a season ticket down and starting an appeal towards the club and Doyles.
If half the stand are stood up waving their season tickets about singing we'll sit where we want suggests to me the fault lies with the stewards throwing their weight about.
Jacob, good luck with your appeal mate...unfortunately I went to the concourse during half time so wouldn't have seen your ejection..if yours was typical of the ones I saw, you would have my full support..if you wish me to write a letter to BFC(which I was thinking of doing anyway)in general support of the lads I saw ejected I'm quite prepared to do that...as I saw it you lads were doing nothing wrong. PS I really wish I had videod it all now...I think some of the posters who are giving Doyles the benefit of the doubt would have to have a rethink if they saw it as it happened.
If lads are merely sitting in seats that would otherwise be empty, I really don't see the issue with it.
Someone was videoing it. My son and I sit at the back of the ponty in line with nets so didn't see what was going off but someone on the back row was definitely filming it. Maybe it was somebody off here or maybe tykesmad. Would be interesting to see it
It's been brewing for weeks. The flare (it wasn't a flare like but still) was 4 months ago - you can see the stewards getting closer and closer into that area winding folk up. I know if the stewards were in my face for three games on the trot I'd be getting f.cked off. If the lads in that area are causing such a bother the club should come out and say so, not ask Doyles to take the piss.
