I would have been surprised if we were on the list. You don't have to be a mystery shopper to recognise that. If the issues are beyond our control then its even more worrying. The day we take control then things may start to improve.

 

Every time we have a thread about "matchday experience" we get at least one post claiming that matchday experience doesn't matter to them at all and they can't understand why anyone can't go a few hours without a drink or something to eat. I personally believe anyone making such claims should be made to watch the game neck deep in a barrel of cold s4it.

 

Speak as I find & I got my youngest grandson a free season ticket when he was 6 , he sat with us on the west stand not the family stand & has not experienced anything of the so called match day experience , he is now aged 19 & still has a season ticket & will be a red for life & has once again renewed for next season , you are right the children are tomorrows fans & thanks to a great incentive from the club they have got him for ever , incentives in what ever form are welcome , some work some do not , the free season ticket certainly did, not face painting , kids clubs or what ever but as I say he did not need the match day experience he just needed the football .

I guess the folk who rock up to a game, watch and go home and not interact or use any facilities will hold that view.

Personally, everyone has their own matchday routine, and some folk (shock horror) like to have a pint with their mates. A 10k degree burger or some sort.

Others will stand outside until 5 minutes before kick off, wander in and never leave their seat.

I can't quite get why folk on either side can't just understand everyones different.

I'm with you btw on folk saying can't they just not have a drink or owt for 2 hours.

It's part of the matchday experience. An experience which has seen some serious decline (and I suspect loss of lots of revenue) due to lack of staff etc.

I'd rather not be put anywhere near a cold barrell of s4it, mind haha

 

They first visited in August, when external authorities wouldn’t allow us to open the fanzone or kids club or have mascots etc etc. The second visit came at the height of a COVID outbreak, where a couple of weeks later we even had to call games off.

Luck of the draw. If they’d visited when we had live music in a packed fanzone and face painting in the family zone, we’d have got the award as usual.

But as I say, plenty to do to improve all areas of the club and lots of good folk will aim to drive that forward.

Regards the poster who said there are old flyers up, do you remember where? Because this silly **** removed loads himself months ago. And I put out fresh ones. Not my job like, but anything to please the bbs massive and not be rotting right to my very core.

 

Despite your personal efforts the poster thing is piss poor though whitey and so easily avoided. Every time a poster is put up at the club it should be logged on a computer along with its expiry date. When that expiry date comes around an alert is sent to someone to go and take it down. We do it at work, it takes seconds to implement and saves looking like a corner shop.

 

If you leave the match at half time & are still queueing for a beer 5 minutes after the restart, some thing is wrong. You are paying kids on minimum wage to pull pints that cost 4 quid your business model is ****** up. Doesn't help that the beer is **** also. Catering / bar is terrible, excluding the flatbreds.

No. Everyone has their expectations of a match day experience. If they didn't they'd be happy up to their neck in the aforementioned barrel. Just because yours is different, don't pretend you don't have one, because you have.

 

Taking a child to Oakwell last season would have been classed as child cruelty. So that’s why we weren’t nominated.

No. You've got it completely wrong, you're not following the argument. You have matchday experience expectations. If you didn't, you would be happy sat in the barrel. But you wouldn't be happy sat in the barrel, because that wouldn't meet your matchday experience expectations of comfort. So this whole argument that you don't have any matchday experience expectations is nonsense, and it's an argument that ruins every thread of this type. You have them, don't pretend you don't, and let people talk about theirs. Just because they're different to your own you shouldn't try silencing them and then we might actually get somewhere.

 

My match day experience is simply about what happens on the pitch , I arrive at 10 to 3 & leave after the final whistle ,I do not buy a drink or food & do not want entertaining before the match or at half time , I just want to watch the game be entertained on the pitch & hopefully we win which is the icing on the cake , so please do not tell me I would be happy sat in a barrel or any other ramblings & why should my different opinion ruin the thread ? is it not what a forum is about having different opinions ?

I don't think it matters if you are winning games of football Jay.

Having been to every champ ground with the current setup then Bristol City has the best from what I've seen.
The Bristol fans still won't be happy with the season gone.
I look at Commerical more than MDE because for me the amount of money the club can bring in will be directly reflected on what matters number one on the pitch. That's also why I complain about the other things I do like Media and Academy.
