    laurie scott, arsenal and england full back, played in 1950 f.a. cup final. passed away now but lived at hoylandswaine, used to take him to arsenal matches when they played up north as he wasnt too good driving due to his age. a brilliant guy. also johnny kelly, ex barnsley winger who once stayed at the white hart, bridge end when newcastle once played the reds in a cup match.
