Long time since mate. Changed hands to an Indian restaurant I think. And I think it’s not there now. Sure sumdy al put mi reight.
Can't you just change your password to something you don't know - mash your keyboard for the new password then copy and paste it into the new password field. Of course the downside of this will be that it doesn't generate any attention...
In isolation of course not, but in context then it is fair enough. I haven't been abusive. If someone wants to announce they're leaving then everyone that has ever done so on here tends to get the same silly responses.
Been away a long time myself so not surprised Hooky. Missis is from Penistone/Cubley originally so we popped in there and also the Fountain at Ingbirchworth which shut down though they're now trying to re-open though a smaller version with houses being built on part of the site so I hear
I tried to leave the BBS, once. But admin refused to release me. As punishment for being a bit of a tool about something or other. So doomed to eternally suffer. I wouldn’t worry about it. There’ll be another, invariably bigger **** along before you know it. Probably me.
What I can't understand is why can't admin just delete an account when requested? We've seen it before. People say 'don't log in' / 'delete the app', but why should that be the case? Why don't admin just delete it, surely a 2 second job? Admin get some strange requests on here, but this type of request is reasonable and surely comes with being an admin...
I know nothing about IT stuff but maybe if you delete an account it includes their IP address and so the poster could just sign up again as someone else and bypass the ‘arsehole ‘ detector
Because joining and leaving a club, forum whatever is down to the individual? Unless they break rules and get banned of course..
I’m not an expert, but a forum is simply a database of posts, if you delete a member, all those posts disappear and any thread they contributed to ceases to make sense. A reasonable request might be to ban any user by request, but that’s exactly the same outcome as the user voluntarily not returning. So the question is: is it reasonable to ask the admins to do something that the user could just do themselves?
I guess if they fell into that category it would be better for admin to delete their account/ban them, than just let people log out/delete the app, and then log back in whenever they want?
Yes but when you leave Facebook, instagram etc etc it gives you the option to delete your account. I might be misunderstanding but it doesn't seem to be an option on the BBS. If that's the case then it should. Or, admin should delete the account.
It's not the same though is it? If a user is banned (by request) then theyve no way or reentering the forum on their own terms. If they leave, they can always come back.
No one's upset me enough to look into deleting my account yet so I haven't looked to see if it's an option but no doubt you're right!
