so according to your quote in the Chronicle - standing areas at Oakwell would only attract 'trouble' - what gives you the right to say that?
My train leaves London at 4pm today Let me know if I need to purchase some wooden stakes before I travel up. You know, for when we march Gally's house tonight.
Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. If that's what Gally has said, I don't happen to agree with him, but he has every right to say/write/publish it.
That's Gally's opinion but I don't think it would, better atmosphere from standing area's. Used to love taunting away fans in wooden end at Oakwell.
North end of west stand would be ideal for this would provide atmosphere at that end of ground, nobody would need to be re-seated could re-energise Oakwell.
Bloody hell Gally people fought in wars and gave their lives so you have the right to express your opinion and you choose to voice it with that ****** dear me
Bloody hell Can't remember saying that in fact I thought I was in favour of clubs having the choice of safe standing In London at the moment What's it say
" a small minority of Barnsley fans have let us down with their behaviour at the Ipswich and Doncaster games and that would probably be worse in a standing area" That the part he's been picked up on, but he said other stuff too he also went on to say Hemswotrth tyke is a ****
I'm really surprised if it says I think safe standing would cause trouble. I was phoned out of the blue by Doug and was asked about the Trusts's position on this. Given the fact that I (on behalf on the trust board) had asked Ben Mansford and the other directors to support the Football League's questions around safe standing. These questions were: Should the Football League approach the minister for sport to request that the 'all-seater' stadia requirement for Championship clubs be reviewed with a view to the re-introduction of standing accommodation? Should the Football League approach the Sports Grounds Safety Authority to request that rail seating products be licensed in Football League grounds? Should clubs be permitted to accommodate supporters in rail seating in the Championship? Should clubs be permitted to revert from seating to standing accommodation in League One and League Two following relegation from the Championship? I thought I was in a good position to answer Doug's questions. I must admit I rambled on a bit but the whole conversation was in support of Safe Standing and even alluded to the friction sometimes caused at away grounds when some fans want to stand and others dont want to or can't (Having had a few years where a helath condition I had caused rhuematoid arthritis in my joints I can tell you this can be a real pisser) At the end of the conversation I did mention something along the lines that I can see the clubs appetite for a change to standing is likely to be to be reduced given the issues in the Ponte and at Donny. At the end of the day, the guy ultimately responsible for health and safety is Ben Mansford and his neck is on the line if things go wrong. I think I also mentioned that I thought the financial costs of putting in a safe standing area are likely to restrict BFC even if it was an option.
Quote from the Chronicle online, not sure if this is exactly the same as the paper because I don't read it. "The Barnsley Supporters' Trust's Paul Gallagher said: "I think Ben Mansford is absolutely right. "There are some Barnsley fans who would love a singing area to create atmosphere throughout a whole game but very few of them would want the club to spend money on that over signing a new player. If the club are ever in a position to rebuild the West Stand, then maybe they could add some rail seats. A small minority of Barnsley fans have let us down with their behaviour at the Ipswich and Doncaster games and that would probably be worse in a standing area.""
We don't know he's been misquoted by the Chron. But the originator of this thread certainly has because nowhere does it say "standing areas at Oakwell would only attract trouble".
