I dont like the way GQ is written, perhaps the editor may allow me to write a column or a quiz etc.... commendable guys but aint gonna happen....
its not quite the same. We're only making suggestions. I'm sure GQ take notice of what their customers want. The Oakwell Review has a much smaller customer base and Im sure the editor would be open to ideas. Why would he not be? He might decide against some or all the ideas. But as we all know Mr. Cryne and the people at Barnsley want the supporters to be more engaged. I just think it would be an idea to put some ideas forward, rather than face a season of grumbling about the Review. Which I admit I have done myself, especially when there have been glaring mistakes. But that is in the past. Time to think about the future?
The editors bit seems a little pointless to me. What is it actually for? If it is for rob to give his opinion on the game then it doesnt need to be a full page, surely a match report would be better? If it is supposed to be his opinion on the goings off at the club then wouldnt supporters much prefer a page written by patrick cryne or a director? They would find it more informative. If it is just generally a page for him to write whatever about whatever then it is totally pointless and a waste of space (no offence to rob). Additions that i'd love to see: 1. A page by the chairman/owner/director keeping fans up to date, it isn't a big ask for one page every few weeks. 2. proper match report. This could be turned into a four, five or 6 page section encorporating photo's from the previous match and comments from a few players. 3. something for the kids seen as we will have a lot more children at oakwell next season, giving their parents a reason to buy the programme will really increase sales. I believe huddersfield used to have a page with like a wordsearch, simple quiz and things on it. 4. following on from 3 it would be good to go back to the old pull out poster in the middle that was popular with children back in the 90's. Barnsley fans have no other place for posters of players really so sales in the programme would increase if there was a large pull out or maybe even more than one in each programme.
and a few more. 5. A history of each match's referee, detailing when he last reffed us, how many times he's sent players off for/against us and any memorable moments etc. Almost every game somebody asks 'havent we had him before?' 6. More interaction with players. I used to enjoy reading questions put to them like who has the worst fashion sense etc. 7. links between our club and the opposition. Sometimes we'll be playing against a team with a barnsley player in their side and it isnt even mentioned. Would be nice for a page with all players that have left our side and ended up there or have come to us from them etc.
what about a week in the life of palyers managers etc. could be interesting in short term for a few editions. what about info on our foriegn stars? lol Im not so good on the ideas.
well done lads you just advertised a job, filed in the application form, interviewed yourself and have given yourself the job. When do you start...???
