I'll say it again... He did NOT name this board, so how has he said unpleasant things about it? Only the people who use it regularly knew what he meant, and his comments in my opinion were perfectly justified.
it didnt need to go on the official site at all rob read on here that we had sold the tickets. he was obviously one click away fro ma reply yet he chose to go into the official site and post on there instead. why? the tone of his story was very arrogant as well
I agree, he does have more important things to do But he's on here a lot. How long does it take to type "I wrote it" in response to Dirk? What did you think to the tone of the article that corrected the information about the Rotherham tickets? Be honest. Over the top? It wasn't simply correcting the erroneous information was it. There was definitely more to it than that.
Maybe they were justified.. but a)he should not be allowed to use the official matchday programme to berate the people who pay his wages. Rightly or wrongly b)It proves that he can respond to supporters when it suits.
There was... the tone was shocking.. it could have said CLUB STATEMENT Approximatly 700 Tickets are still available for the Reds forthcoming trip to Millmoor Easy People upset? NONE
RE: The attitude and tone of the news story on the official site I understand your point of view, and it was indeed strongly worded, but a match report is always going to contain personal thoughts. You often here radio commentators and see written media that state a referee is/was appalling. And don't forget he wrote it during/straight after the game when emotions were running high...
Yes you do..the difference is the majority ofthose do not work for the club and therefore cannot bring a charge of disrepute onto the club
RE: Jornalists are just like politicians At least they can spell. Anyway, that's it, group a whole profession together and generalise. Well done.
RE: I'll say it again... Journo... In the law of libel, making a half-hearted attempt at identifiying someone does not prevent a libel suit being brought. (I'm not saying it was libellous, but the criterion appear to me to be sound for what I'm trying to get across.) If I said: "A user of this board who is training to be a journalist, who lives in Leeds, and has the initials A.C. is such-and-such...." then you could sue me for libel, because everyone who uses this board would know EXACTLY to whom I was referring. Similarly, Rob Knowles not giving the URL of this website does not make his written attack any less specific. His words in the matchday programme were very unpleasant, and clearly directed at a percentage of users on this site. Those who feel they were a target of his invective have a right to feel peeved.
Absolutely chuff all Just that some people on an 'unofficial' Barnsley fans forum had said he shouldn't have gone on his honeymoon at the start of the season, which was absolutely spot on.
I'm struggling to understand your reasoning Redstar! You've got a personal dislike of the guy, yet you've never met him?? Also, some contributors to this BBS had quite a vociferous 'go' at him whilst he was on honeymoon, for a variety of reasons, yet when he responds in his column in the match-day programme he's 'got a vendetta against this BBS'?? From reading the many comments on here, I'd suggest it's the other way around! Dirk rightly considered he had a justifiable comment to make about Rob - and he raised it on this Forum, which is he quite entitled to do. Why he then chose to continually raise the issue on here because he got no response from Rob, I don't fully understand. After all, if Rob obviously isn't going to respond via this Forum, why doesn't Dirk pick up the phone and call him, or his boss?? Or pop down to the ground and ask to see him? I simply can't see the point in repeatedly trying to get him to reply via the BBS - when it's plainly obvious to all and sundry that he isn't going to do that. Why isn't he responding on here? Only he can answer that - but maybe he's under instruction from the club not to?? Just a thought......... To be honest, I suspect the club are taking little notice of, or have little respect for, the comments made on here. After all, very few of them are constructive are they? The BBS is effectively a means for some fans to 'let off steam' - perhaps that's how the club look at it. Just my opinion.
RE: I'm struggling to understand your reasoning Redstar! It IS possible to like someone you've never met. I don't like people with, for instance, pseudo-photographs of teenage girls on their hard drive, for example. >"I suspect the club are taking little notice of, or have little respect for, the comments made on here." In that case, why respond in the matchday programme?
Perhaps Rob felt he had a point to make? He made it - end of story as far as he was concerned. Not so for some on here, it would seem!
RE: Nobody I regard myself as a serious poster! It was probably my posts which got him most upset. I thought then and still think now that he should not have gone on Honeymoon when he did. Saying that we all have the right to go on holiday when we want is a load of crap! I certainly cant and I am sure that the majority of employed posters on here cant either. But who is the worst Mr Knowles for asking for those two weeks or the powers that be for saying he could go!
RE: Nobody The last few words of your post are what the majority of folk were getting at. I still maintain that Rob shouldn't have had to answer to us over the choice of his honeymoon date, but the club should have provided adequate cover for his absence.
