I do tend to think people put more effort into complaining than actually finding ways to make going to matches more accessible. That said, two Barnsley fans I know who are usually clued up did not know about the cheap Blackpool tickets, but then, if people don't read the Chronicle, go on BFC websites or buy programmes, how will they find out about reduced tickets? I think as much as the club needs a kick up the rear regarding marketing, people also have to take it upon themselves to look things up as well.

A few of us pounded the streets with flyers and posters last season and from memory it didn't increase the crowd at all. The club can and should do more but they can't force fans to come. Horses and water, etc.

Coca Cola spend hundreds of millions on advertising and marketing, everybody knows that exists too.

Maybe it's worth the trust asking what plans are in place to promote the game then? Would any people be willing to help, hand out flyers/posters in town during the week and next weekend etc??

All sports clubs/night clubs/pubs should be given posters etc, and school kids could be given letters to take home to parents etc.

Exactly, well said. The biggest brands in the world, are the biggest brands in the world generally because they know how to market themselves.

Don't get me wrong I think the club needs to do more and maybe the kids could help out but I just wonder whether flyers in town would make much difference after last season. A lot of people read the chronicle and listen to local radio so maybe they are better options.

I think it should be done for every game and in the closed season before the first game, its about getting into peoples heads week in week out. I don't know if pubs and clubs hand flyers out on a night in Barnsley (its a bit since I've been round tarn on a weekend) why can't BFC ask a popular club to hand out flyers with their own publicity next Friday /saturday (every Fri/sat) I know you get people from surrounding towns coming into the town on a weekend ,just reminds people the club still exists
