Shed131 hits one nail on the head. Our scouting and recruitment in Danny's first reign was phenomenal. There was a blend of youth and experience, and some terrific (and low cost) recruits from Europe and further afield. Our present recruitment seems more of a guessing game, and there seems to be some shadowy influence on the part of PC's family. Lalkovic's cameo appearance against Yeovil hinted we might have begun to return to our previous successful approach, but the reports of the Doncaster game seem less encouraging. Either way, we need to strengthen the scouting arrangements and to obtain a better balance of players, because we are still lightweight as a team. The other 'nail' is coaching. You can't underestimate the impact Eric Winstanley had on the 96-98 teams. That's something I've been told by a real club 'insider' from those days. I'm not convinced the current coaching setup is of the same standard. Danny is our greatest manager by a country mile. And it's too early to say he can't recapture at least some of the former success. He was in the process of doing so with the Blunts, until the Evans saga derailed his efforts. But for him to succeed again, the club 'infrastructure' needs to be addressed along the lines set out above. So "Danny In" for me!
