The one and only Sir Ronnie Glavin.. Banks, McCarthy, Hignett, Redfern, Paul Futcher, Thomas, Taggart, Gray, Hendrie all worthy of mention
YOU REDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
No i never saw Glavin play, but i cant see him being as good as Redfearn was.
He probably was a good player , butquality from then to now is a big difference at a guess(the opposition)
Could someone who thinks Glavin was better than Redfearn explain why, cheers.

Big Tony was surprisingly popular given his limitations. Might have something to do with him getting a pen every time he fell over his own feet in our promotion season.
Watched TC batter Newcastle for you lot - you won 4-2. - Was in the Newcastle end, they were raving about him.
He was nearly awkward enough to get in our side nowadays.

RE: YOU REDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Neil Redfearn was a great player. Fantastic desire, skillfull, scored goals (about 80 in 300 games?) never gave up. Ronnie Glavin was just a class apart. We were exceptionally lucky to see a player of his ability at Barnsley. He had the lot: superb skill, speed, balance, effortless passing and tons of goals (92 in 208). As for the level of opposition they faced? Very difficult to compare from era to era but it's like saying that George Best wasn't as good as Aaron Lennon cos they played against different players. Perhaps difficult for you to accept (perhaps with the arrogance of youth?) that you haven't seen the best there has been. Take it from the number of folk who have seen the two play that Glavin was the best we've had (over the last fifty years at least!)
Got 3 that i can't choose between Redrearn, Hignett & De Zeeuw As a young 'un my favoutites were Agnew, Baker & beresford
I am lucky enough to have seen both players and.......... Redfearn was a fantastic player for Barnsley he drove us on practically single handed, top player, but, in pure footballing terms Ronnie was the best we've ever had, even people that have been frequenting Oakwell for 50-60 years will tell you that, Dixon is one of the poor younger supporters that can't grasp the effect Ronnie Glavin had on the town and it's football supporters, not his fault of course, just too young, Ronnie Glavin, in short, was 20 times plus the player Redfearn was.
He was a totally differant type of player. Difficult to compare them to be honest. But if i had to choose then i'd choose Glavin!
