When Redfern was playing you looked forward to seeing what the team would do. When Glavin was playing you looked forward to seeing what he would do. The only one I remember who came close to a Glavin type experience was Hirsty. But playing up front doesn't have you involved to quite the same extent.
Johnny Evans from the 60's... 10000000% effort every game also loved Eric Winstanley and Pat Howard what a great defensive duo they were
I thought this thread was about your FAVOURITE player, not the BEST player, that can be 2 very different things. In my opinion the BEST player I have seen play for Barnsley is Glavin , but my favourite player is someone with a lot less skill than him ALAN LITTLE, followed by Kenny Brown, Archdeacon, Winstanley, Pat Howard, Anton Otulakowski , Bruce Dyer and many more, all for different reasons.
2 out of 5 seasons against **** opposition its like anything else people always thinks anything to do with the good old days was better, when actually it probably wasn't. Redfearn's better he finished the highest goal scoring midfielder in the country didn't he playing for us in the premiership, i dont think glavin played enough at the same higher level that redders has to judge him on the same level whilst playing for us. Although both excellent players redders was at his peak playing for us in top divisions.
RE: Didn't Glavin play most of his gamesfor us when we were in 3/4 tier? ERR I thought the question who was you're favourite player not the best. But anyway believe me a young Ronnie Glavin weas as good as anythiong we had in the Redfearn team
Morgan, Moses & Jones also played for us in the Premiership The likes of Howard, McCarthy & Evans never did. But, in my opinion, the latter were vastly superior players to the former, even if the opposition were supposedly ****. Anyway, the original post was to ask who was everyone's favourite player and not who was best. Ronnie Glavin is my personal all time favourite Barnsley player and, in my opinion, was also the best. However, that doesn't stop me respecting other people's views and neither does it means I would consider deriding another player's achievements and abilities, simply to prove my point. I think Neil Redfearn was a wonderful player and I won't hear a word said against him. I also think Ronnie Glavin was better.
Watch how you say things tonight you cant say best and favourite can be different, well I cant anyway.
Yeah, I've just read that Well, Mick Butler is my favourite ever Barnsley striker, but I think Ashley Ward is the best Barnsley striker I've seen.
