One for the old timers. I wonder how many BBSers were in the crowd of 3426 when Joe Hayes scored 2 long range efforts in our 5 -0 win over Rochdale on 31 March 1966. Another screamer was Archdeacon's stoppage time equaliser against Leicester in a 3rd round FA Cup replay at Oakwell. We won on penalties with Butler making a couple of saves.
I was there for both games. That Rochdale game was on a quagmire of a pitch which made Hayes long range effort all the more remarkable. One great goal I remember was Bobby Doyle hitting a 30 yarder like a bullet into the bottom right corner at the Kop end about 1975 ish. It was a long crossfield ball from the left wing over to the right which Doyle hit on the volley. It stayed about a foot off the ground all the way into the net. Can't remember who it was against though but it was a thing of beauty
Best goal I've ever seen live was Barnard's volley against Huddersfield. One of the best goals I've seen on T.V was the one scored by George Weah for AC Milan.
Paul Futcher's infamous 30-yard own goal. The ball came across, he control it on a sixpence then banged it into the top corner past the despairing dive of Clive Baker. I think we went on to win, but I can't remember the opposition now.
