At least they're our own players, and we are going down anyway unless LeeJay goes.

Hourihane is our own player. Would rather have a successful team than a team of Barnsley lads fighting to stay up in any division.

It's hillarious that this tinpot championship club could ever be in the running for our best player. At least make the rumour realistic by saying Middlesborough, Fulham, Derby etc are interested in him.

You are aware that the championship is a league above us and that tin pot club are 28 places higher than us right?

It's hilarious that you think Derby would be in for him. They've got Butterfield who is a similar type of player but a couple of orders of magnitude better.

Seems a bit unlikely to choose Preston....although they're championship, they could well be a relegation candidate soon, they've won even fewer games than we have, don't blame any player for wanting to go higher but Preston?

Being in the league above us for the first season since dunno when is all they have on us. Ground, crowds at their level, budget etc i'd say we were on a par on everything at the very least. When he does leave it will be for a club with a bigger budget, with bigger crowds and more ambition than them. Anything less than three million up front, no installments and a future sell on clause and we will have been done.

Central midfield is the last area they'd strengthen. They've got Will Hughes and Craig Bryson to return in the New Year from injuries and even without them they've got one of Johnson, Butterfield, Thorne and Hendrick on the bench with Baird and Ince also capable of playing centrally.

Boro have Downing, Leadbitter, Clayton, Forshaw, Fabbrini etc.

I really rate Conor and I'd back him to prosper in that division, but you're right mate, clubs of that ilk won't be looking at him. I think PNE, Huddersfield, Bristol City, MK Dons etc, that'd be more likely in this next stage of his development. Were we at the correct end of the division we could argue that they'd be sideways moves or lacked ambition etc. But as it is, any move to the Championship will appeal to him. He's the same age as Jacob. He's not a youngster. Time is of the essence.

If Conor is going to leave, I for one will wish him well. Since returning to the third tier, he's been by far and away our best player during that time, in my opinion.

You sound like a Wednesday/Leeds fan. Past history and ground size counts for nowt. Preston are a much more attractive proposition than us right now. And 3m? We'll get nowhere near that. 500k, 750k at the absolute most.

Oh I agree IF we weren't a relegation threatened poor league one team and IF it wasn't 2015 and IF Preston weren't in the championship and IF they weren't getting higher gates than us then yeah we would be similar.

Sadly in the real world all the above is actually reality

For a player who is 24 with his best football still to come I'd be hoping for a million upfront and then the add ons.

We have a sell on clause to Plymouth to appease as well.

    £1 Million? You're having a laugh!

The best we could hope for is 500k, but given our current league position and the fact that he has disappeared in the majority of games this season, then we will do well to get 300k in my opinion.

If this turns out to be true then it's somewhat irking that we were softened up for it in last week's Chronic by Johnson saying only a big fee would lure us to part with him. Again, IF it's true then we the supporters are being taken for fools because it shows that we are really building nothing for the future. I can't remember feeling as angry after a football match as I did after the Wigan game. It's going to take an awful lot to induce me to part with any further money in April/May. After all, if the club don't care............?

We'd be mental to sell him - we're scrapping for our life here and Hourihane is one of the few players capable of winning games for us.

Sell him and risk going down - would have to be a huge fee
