I extracted the frames from the video and selected the one which I believe shows the ball being ppayers then followed all the lines on the pitch to the vanishing point and used that to draw a line to the defenders foot. At that point Friesers front foot is clearly a stride ahead of him. iMarkup_20210808_140525.jpg

Note: I didn't exactly use the most sophisticated software for doing it so it's hardly millimetre accurate like VAR claims to be

How do you know they're any better than him?
He must have a better attitude and work rate than Cole.

As usual, I checked the results page in the paper and yes, he was offside!

Should av watched line better really then, if a opposition has a good left wing back then frieser has to play with his work rate, he might shine alot more this season with the passing, although one of the big lads holding ball up and fetchin players into play could be a better option,i like him so i hope he starts geting goals and assists hes scored some nice goals just needs to be more consistant.

Although it was offside, I thought it was an excellent passage of play showing the footballing capabilities of our lads.

Going on the fact that they’ve played and scored at a higher level than Frieser. I obviously don’t know for sure how our new signings will fare in a reds shirt, I just have a gut feeling that Oulare (if fit) and Iseka will play more minutes than Frieser.

Cole is missing through covid so not sure you can make that judgment? Unless you’re making it from the last time he was here?

    Yeah you’d hope so.

Did well in the SPL last season so hopefully he can bring that confidence down with him and apply himself well. Be a good impact player to bring on I think.

Frieser was offside. Shame but he just was.

This is just my own opinion, and I might be miles off, but I think Big Val has shown the club the way in terms of having very different options up front and retaining a solid core defensively.

Val started some questionable front three’s last season that we all blinked at, but nearly every time it worked either from the start or with the players coming off the bench. You don’t need that flexibility so much in defence, so it makes sense our squad is primed to adapt further up the pitch.

Without seeing the new lads play I can see Frieser starting every time we’re against a team that like to play it out from the back. Against a team that go long quickly? I’ll guess we’ll go with the quicker more aggressive/direct players to stretch the opposition and get the ball forward in to the channels quickly.

Oulare(?) probably starts each game we need that pivotal target man. But there might be games where we want Woodrow on the ball bringing others in to play from that middle position, because height is less of an issue and we think there’s an advantage getting between the lines.

It’s still very much a squad game up front and they’ll be sides in this league that could nullify the pace two of the new forwards bring.

I watched Freiser’s goal frame by frame, and I’d say he was very marginally offside. A great call by the lino, unfortunately.

I think more of these marginal decisions will go against us this season, especially away from home.

I get the fact VAR would have ruled it offside if it was in operation
but how did the lino spot it

It's literally their job to spot players being offside.

It's not even close really. He's a clear yard off.

Probably a bit old fashioned but maybe he kept up with play and looked across the pitch?

It was very tight and in such situations they rarely go with the away team unless it's Man U, Liverpool etc...

It might also have been on his mind that he disallowed one for Cardiff in the first half.
