Similar to me. My first game was Reading at home 1994/5 season. I just followed results until I got older.

My Dad bought me a Brazil shirt after the 1970 World Cup. Little did I know that watching Barnsley in the 1990`s would become like watching them! I now have a grown up version of the Brazil shirt that I have sometimes worn on "big" Barnsley fixtures - wish I could say it was lucky but I think it`s had mixed results.

Everton shirt with number 5 on the back. The number 5 was Brian Labone at the time.

94/95 home kit, bought from the old club shop (West stand I think?)

Remember being proud as punch wearing it, wanting to wear the full kit, socks and all

Leeds kit...was it Midwood sports on shambles Street?
Tbf it was just all white and they wore sock tassels at the time (about 74/75)...I think, I made my own with no.10 because I had a thing for Jonny Giles.
Then had that ace England admiral kit about 78 with the red n blue down the sides.
First reds kit was Umbro with white socks around similar time?

I had a knock off of the Liverpool Candy shirt, then a fake England shirt. Didn't ask for them, think they were hand-me downs from one of my mum's friends. First proper shirt was the blue away top from 96-97, then the home shirt from our PL season.

I’ve an awful feeling mine was a Wendy one. Full kit, badge and lot. Sorry.

Had a phase around 11 / 12 when all I wanted was footy shirts, mostly random away ones. Had a (on reflection) god awful purple Man City shirt (Brother was the sponsor). Also had a Chelsea top which was predominantly white with random red lines all over the place in their Commadore’ days.

My first one was an old, and I do mean old, Arsenal shirt. It was an extremely thick material and had a large collar to it, ala 1930's style. Like others on the thread, I certainly never asked for it.

Celtic shirt just after they won the European Cup.
I don't actually think it was a Celtic shirt. It was more of a green and white hooped rugby shirt with a proper collar and buttons at the top.
My dad bought a Celtic badge which was sewn onto the breast and some green ribbon which was sewn down the sides of a pair of bog standard white shorts,
Don't think replica kits were a thing back then. You could buy a red shirt in a box which had printed on the side "Liverpool, Manchester United, Bristol City, Wrexham, Barnsley, Swindon" and anyone else who played in red shirts.

1967 red & white Barnsley shirt, but in them days could have been used for any other team who played in the same colours due to having nothing on it.

That's great simplicity. Sometimes less is more. I like the White kit from back then. Wish they had one in extra chunky.

Barcelona home shirt from the 1986/87 season with Lineker emblazoned on the back.
I was obsessed with Lineker following him winning the Golden Boot in the 86 World Cup in Mexico.

Why did we ditch the great umbro kits of the early to mid eighties?

Yes, I had the full kit. Only the top remains though. My kids have each worn it to games. I think my daughter might have worn it to Wembley. My son’s bigger than me now though, so before every match he’s rooting through my drawer, choosing which of my Reds shirts he’s gonna wear, the little sod. I’m gradually losing footy shirts and records, that turn up in his bedroom.
