This. Season ticket holders seen as the lifeblood of the club, but there are fans just as passionate and deserving, who maybe can't afford the upfront cost of an ST but end up parting with more cash over the course of a season.
It's a thankless task when it comes to categories etc. It's a case where not 2 fans are the same. Length of time holding a ST etc. Due to my missus business she rarely attends a home game now. She had a ST for 35 years. But she does attend 99% of away games. Not everyone can be pleased so I'm glad it's not my job sorting them out.
I'm not saying they should do this for this game or anything but it's really not that complicated. Back in the Dennis era the categories were something like season ticket holder for 3 or more years cat 1, 2 or more years cat 2, 1 year Cat 1. They had all the information on record back then and you could walk into the ticket office and they could tell you within seconds which category you were. It's now 2021 and I'd be absolutely astonished if they couldn't do that anymore.
Parchment. Uh, Luxury. Tha's only a bairn, When I started watching em it was written in Stone. Afore moses wrote the 10 commandments. Think it was moses with Ronnie's help who parted the RED sea.
Aye but the list would go on and on. Say we do get 4500. 3900 get taken by Cat 1. Then there's a 1000 Cat 2 who want the rest. It's a never ending conundrum and like I said previously I'm glad it's not up to me.
Believe it or not my son is younger than me!!! This means he’s not had his season tickets as long as I have. Does anyone’s way of thinking mean he’s less deserving than me?
I wouldn't like to be inside Kelvins (Blandamore) head at this time. Those that know him, will know He must be stressed beyond belief. He will be totally distraught if he misses out. I'll be disappointed if I don't get picked out. but so will many others. It is, what it is. I'm comforted. ( hopefully) that every 20/21 season ticket holder will more than likely be able to go to the final if we get there.
I think the club already know of a couple of 100 fans who haven't missed a game home or away for decades who rightly should get served first. Kelvin is one of those and I doubt anyone would object to him getting one before themselves. John Dennis invited a few select supporters to the Town Hall dinner after our Premier promotion and Kelvin was one of those. He watched us in the 4th Division when we were really bad with 1600 watching at Oakwell. He'd go away to Torquay in midweek in winter with another 16 reds. He'd also watch the reserves away from home if the 1st team weren't playing. I've had a season ticket myself for 30 years but Kelvin had one when I didn't even know they existed. There aren't another 500 like him so let them all have one before me.
Aye, and there's naff all at the club now that can tell you anything about certain years. It's like the club didn't exist pre-3rd October 2002, when just days after a demonstration at Oakwell demanding the resignation of John Dennis, after we'd lost to Wigan, we entered administration. And I don't just mean ticket records. But anything. You'd have thought there'd be a treasure trove of footage, particularly regards the promotion season etc. No. Not a bean. What about stuff relating to our first ever Wembley trip? Nope. Nothing. It's as though, during that admin-process, everything was deleted. Such a shame. But back to your point about categories etc - of course we could have done it like you've suggested. But we haven't. It's the 20/21 season. Season Ticket holders during 20/21 are getting priority to buy a ticket for the end-of-season play-off semi final. Unfortunately, we are still somehow in a form of lockdown and aren't allowed more than 4,500 fans inside our stadium, IF the Tories even green-light that on Monday. So 7,500 doesn't go into 4,500. Therefore, a fair chunk of our season ticket holders will miss out. It's ****** ****. But the way the club is looking to go, should the green light come, is for me the very fairest way to do it. I personally don't understand why we can't just have everyone back in now. But I'm sure that makes me crazy.
Me neither. What's the point of saying you can start doing this on the so and so of the month and that from so and so of June, and so on. Where is the logic? Baffles me. The news recently has shown such shocking events as mass gatherings of close to each other strangers at a snooker tournament and at a music event (in Liverpool was it?). So where's the logic in saying that hundreds of thousands of peasants cannot attend a football match this weekend even though it is their last chance until next August (for those not in the play offs, obviously). And then when the playoffs start - you Brentford fans who are aching to get into your spanking new toytown stadium cannot go, apart from a measly few thousand. You lot on the south coast who are used to flocking to Dean Court in your tens of thousands () - no, same applies to you. And you Swansea and Barnsley lot - we know thousands of you want to see your team for the first, and maybe last time, this season, but sorry - only a few thousand can be granted that privilege. It's madness - total and utter madness. We either start living again right now, or just forget it. What the hell difference does a week, or a month, make. Is delaying it based on the "science"? Like, if we let 20,000 into Oakwell for the semi final the town will have a mass epidemic on the loose? Enough of this nonsense. Let's just get on with it!!!!
It pisses me off when they say data not dates when it's a blatant lie. If it isn't dates they wouldn't have given five of them. If it's data we would already be back to normal.
