Agreed.
It's an easy mistake to make but the truth is that the pillocks most people are mistaking for Five-o wouldn't get a look in with them. The properlads are notrouble to anyone except those who seek them out.

In the 80's to late 90's they were loyal fans. As someone as already stated the majority see a 17 year old with a Aquascutum hat & fake Stone Island jumper and automatically label him Five O. I know most of the Older end & trust me they are bigger supporters of BFC than the majority of posters on here.
Were ALL barnsley aren't we? I know if I get a clip off some ***** away at Birmingham on a dark tuesday nite, I'd like to think there was a bit of backup!
It's already been said on this post but i'll say it again. Alot of people see the spotty teens and pissed up idiots on matchdays acting like total to$$ers, goading away fans and sometimes to my horror i've even heard them chant five-0, and they think that these are the part of the group we know as the five-0. This is not the case as i know the majority of these lads. Can't say i agree with what they did in their time but to me they have been great lads. The respect they hold for one and other is unbelievable, some alot on here will never experience. They are true friends. When my partner passed away i cannot begin to tell you how good they were to me and his parents, they helped in every way possible. The power of respect these lads have for one and other is unbelievable, when the chips are down they are there and prepared to help. As i said i have experienced this first hand. Bet there are not many people on here who can say they have friends that are as loyal to each other as what this bunch of lads are One thing you could never question is the love alot of these lads have for BFC
top post now alot of people never experience this kind of thing from them. Glad you shared it with us pal
You don't many of the Five O lads anymore FV is no more. The majority of the Five O men have banning orders on them. They are not allowed near the town for 4 hours before and after a game. The only Five O that are around are boys. To be honest the Five O is no more because of banning orders and the risk of jail. Many of the older members have a family and mortgage and cannot risk jail. In the 80s and 90s a fine was all you got.

There supporters TBH, i dont agree with what they do, as said in previous post on here they dont start trouble with those who dont want to be started with, they have never gave any Barnsley supporters grief or made them feel unconfortabe when behind, the only time i have seen it "KICKING OFF" was when we played Cardiff both home and away in 2003-2004 (I Think when we won 3-2) at home. I remeber the same season it was, when we drew with Sheff Wed 1-1 it kicked off in town centre, they where just mindless chavs chucking bottles at Police and people seem to think that was the Five-0
I travelled with the hard core who would eventually label themselves the 'Five-0' a few times in the 80's, when I was struggling for transport to away games. They went from the Royston Legion in those days. Most of them are good lads who don't look for trouble but can handle themselves if owt happens. Still see most of those faces now 25 years on. The day our pringle mob/service crew got slashed to pieces at Middlesbrough, I was with the Royston Legion supping in Yarm. They like to use their own transport and get to some pubs outside of town, not travel with kids on a service train. Can also remember going with them to Crystal Palace and getting chased back to our minibus. The police had insisted that it was moved away from the rest for some reason and we got ambushed finding it. They called themselves the 'Five-0' for a laugh, not as a serious hooligan firm. Others with more sinister motives have come along since and basically hijacked the name when it suits. The irony of it is, at least one of the original lot, who had made their way to the game seperately, was sucked into the trouble at Cardiff and banned (Duffy).
They are not supporters, but most are fans A supporter backs the club through thick and thin, from what I've seen the 'we come every week boo boy brigade' many of whom would like to think they are five-0 are only too keen to show their dissapproval when things go wrong (Burnley last season being a good example). Many do follow the club all over and are genuinely Barnsley mad,so this makes them fans (short for fanatics). Some might tick both the fan and supporter boxes.
Any team's fans with a Hooligan element is bound to get grief, especially away from home. I reckon for example most Cardiff fans will get that, same with leeds, chelsea etc etc. Ours are no different. Only time I ever saw the " Five-0 in action was cardiff away 2004? Jesus. Made it hell for us as they had the big escorts & we were left to walk to our cars, not nice!
RE: They are not supporters, but most are fans Picked up a book at work' terrace legends' thers a full chapter on the five-0 along with other firms/gangs
RE: They are not supporters, but most are fans Not realy just flicked through the pages all the stories are the same. so i went back to reading the daily sport
