From a source quoted by West Ham's official account:-

"Reports in Italy have suggested that West Ham could be in line to make an offer for Germany striker Mario Gomez after he failed to agree a deal with Besiktas. I have been told that he is one of ten strikers that the Club are looking at, but a deal seems unlikely at this stage. The Club are continuing to look at other big name forwards across Europe and will look to get the best possible deal for West Ham United."

He'll be off out on loan I'd imagine. I'd fancy West Ham to be challenging that top 6 this season again and I don't think Fletcher is quite ready just yet for that.

Let's hope we can get him back in.

True but I think they will want to get him bedded in and settled at the club first. Would find it unlikely that they loan him immediately.

That's correct. Only counts towards it if named in their 25 in August. But going out on loan doesn't affect it until they have to re-name their 25 in January.

In truth, I was wrong to bring it up. Not because I have any idea whether he'll be named in that 25, but because I expect West Ham will have plenty of homegrown laikers. It's eight of the 25, isn't it? So, Noble, Collins, Tomkins, Antonio, Reid, Jarvis, Carroll, Cresswell, Randolph, Byram, Poyet, Burke, Oxford.... etc etc. All homegrown.

    Worra wally.

WHU have been linked with Diego Costa, Carlos Bacca, Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata, Mario Gomez, Michy Batshuayi, Simone Zaza and Alex Lacazette this summer. I'd be pretty surprised if Fletch is one of their first team strikers put it that way.

    Cheers for that.

I'm so out of touch with anything involving the Premier League I wasn't sure what the rules are.

They've been linked with all those strikers and still have Sakho, Carroll and Valencia. Without knowing who else is in their squad he's at best fourth in the pecking order (which is probably unrealistic) with plenty moving and shaking to be done.

They don't always play two up front either.

Maybe they see him as their Dele Alli type in making the step up straight away and being a regular? We don't know the reasons for them wanting him. I don't see them offering him in the region of 500k a year and a compo package to Man United, for some other club to take advantage of it through a loan deal. He will be on much more money which means anyone that does take him on loan (if that happens) will have to pay out more than last season. He might bang some goals in during pre season and he'd be playing for a manager pretty good at giving players a chance.

They are doing what Man U and Chelsea have been doing for years. Stockpiling players, because they've too much ******* money.

He wouldn't sign again for Man United because he wants game time. There is no longer emergency loans. I don't think he'd have signed for West Ham if he wasn't given guarantees of game time.

If you think West Ham would guarantee a kid (who has only played competitive football in league 1) game time ahead of Carroll, Sakho and Valencia you must be smoking industrial amounts of crack.

Not to mention they're supposed to be interested in Carlos Bacca.
