They had goalposts in the pub?
Seriously though, I have more pressing issues to worry about than whether or we not we practiced penalties. Fact we won the shootout says all that needs saying.

Yes it says that we have an excellent goalkeeper who did enough to cover for the woeful penalty taking

"Seriously though, I have more pressing issues to worry about than whether or we not we practiced penalties."

Then what on earth are you doing posting in a thread that is specifically about whether or not we should practice penalties? Get on with these 'pressing issues' and leave us to it.

Posts like the above. Worst ever. 'I'm far too important to be talking about what you're talking about and I don't mind telling every one either." Jesus.

Far more important things to practice than pens. We do a lot of training in other areas and don't need to practice pens in my opinion. If a footballer can't hit the net from 12 yards without practice then frankly he should retire. I can understand practicing free kicks around the area because we will use that every game but penalties should only be practiced by the people who are going to take them during a 90 minute match and Steele will get his practice there as well. I would trust flickers decision as an ex pro to know if we need to practice them or not.

I'm on a BFC forum, so I assumed that when I said 'pressing issues' that folk would realise I was referring to BFC issues. As in, our product in open play, Cranie's scan etc.
I just don't see us missing a few pens in a shootout we won, as something to worry about.
Merely my opinion, like. And I can see why you misunderstood me. I wasn't clear enough and so that's fair enough. But unless I come across as an aloof lovely person on here I am a tad disappointed with your response, as I see you as one of the better contributors to the forum and whom I often agree with. But such is life.

As for you, you're just a lovely person.
Offers **** all to the forum save for immature sniping and biting at the ankles of others through some envious fascination complex and the quite blatant fact that you have what is generally referred to as 'no life'.
Wordy enough, pal. Or should I say, Greekman. Banned multiple times for being said lovely person.

I was much too harsh, I apologise. I appreciate the mature response, which my post didn't really deserve.

Bad behaviour on my part well handled by you.

I'd say the proof is in the pudding. The German national team practices penalties, Barnsley FC don't.

If they need some tension, get em wired up to a van der graaf generator when practising, any miss and zap.

If they need some tension, why not practice penalties as part of the pre-match warm up. Could get the fans to boo and jeer misses and cheer goals - just like in a game...

How do you compare the two? You can't. The variables change on a rugby conversion kick, ever time, whilst a penalty stays constant.

It's like Flicker says - you can't recreate the pressure on the human mind and body that an actual penalty shoot out creates. You could practice until the sun goes down, but you still might miss. Even if you were ultra confident and putt 99% of your penalties on the postage stamp, you might still miss that 1% of the time, because the pressure might just get to you, affecting something that could put you off. That's what Flicker was saying.
