Cricket has a much more bounded number of variables though. As a bowler or a batter there are a set number of influences, in football there are to many to make Pro-Zone or GPS more than an interesting data point. They will not teach your defence how to work together on corners or free-kicks, they will not teach them to stand on the post, sit deep, man-to-man or zonal mark. That all comes from the coach. Keith Hills and then Flitcroft's faith in these new technologies seem to have come at the expense of more traditional methods, rather than as a compliment to them. Big mistake. Flitcroft should have spent more time analysing the match video's with the players and going through scenario's on the training ground. Also, picking the best players rather than your mates would have helped too.
