We will have to wait until the end of Bobby's career for the "Sir Bobby - A Decade At Oakwell" book to hear his side :)

The way I heard it, he avoided direct answers to both the Mellis and the Hassell question, but he did so in slightly different ways. There are two possible reason for this:

    a. He has his reasons but does not want to make them public because he fears this may demotivate the players concerned and may drive a wedge through team spirit.

    b. He does not want to reveal the team to the opposition so that they are less able to plan for the game.

In my opinion, both reasons are valid and are the reason many managers will not answer specific questions from the media. Unfortunately, winning games is far more important than keeping fans on side, even if this allows conspiracy theories to gain momentum.

In fairness nobodies mentioned what Flitcroft said about the togetherness of the squad especially those not playing at the moment, maybe that's what he found disrespectful.Bobby Hassell mentions every week in his column about the spirit within the squad and the confidence of the lads in beating the drop.Maybe people are looking for something that's not there.

Then why did he not say the same after being asked about Mellis?
He only would not talk about Hassel, then he made it out to be an attack on him! Why ??

I read it into it exactly what everyone else does. he's acting like a bellend letting personal feelings affect his team selection and he has no respect for the fans in refusing to answer a reasonable question and treats certain players different/worse to others.

Spot on TomFun. Sadly through no fault of his own Hassell's been turned into a divisive figure.

Personally I think he's worth a game. The manager doesn't whether that's because he doesn't rate him, doesn't like him or whatever.

So can't we just get over it and get behind the manager and the team. Because its seems some would be against the appointment of Guardiola is he didn't openly state Hassell was his first choice

Can't we just get over better players being left out of the side while crap players play and we ship goals like they're going out of fashion whilst getting relegated.

No, no we can't. I don't care if god himself is manager, if he does a **** job then the fans have every right to tell him so

What a pathetic answer. He talks about Mellis with regards all games, he talks about Dawson with regards lots of games. He then says about Hassell that he's only prepared to talk about one game and that asking is disrespectful. I'll tell you what is disrespectful Flitcroft and that is refusing to answer the questions of your paying customers, it is disrespectful to treat players differently and it is disrespectful to take pot shots at your customers.

I must have listened to a totally different interview then because I heard him talk about Mellis at length and answer the question in detail.

The thing that struck me in his interview tonight was that when asked about loan players he talked about needing a left back then went on to say that McNulty was out for some weeks and that he would have recalled Edwards if he wasn't injured so he needed a new centre half. FFS he thinks a player on loan at Shrewsbury is better than Bobby so I think that says it all really.

It's not about a player being bigger than the club, but shouldn't all our players be treated the same and picked on ability and not be treated like something the dog has done for no good reason?

Loved how he stressed that it was so hard to recruit this time of the season. Shame we know how to sell and **** up our season year after year.

Oh and I agree, his reaction to Bobby question was a complete **** up.

Flicker I really want you to succeed just like i did with keith.

But I dont think you will. The warning signs are already their in my opinion and you are doing it to yourself.
