I’ve no idea what the answer is. My point being that something needs to be done. Having seen the issue first hand, the French are a ‘little relaxed’ at their end about it in some places. They prefer the issue they have to go elsewhere.
I have to say in fairness to my French colleagues (soon not to be for a few reasons) they've actually rescued, processed and returned more than we have. They're pretty good, the issue of migrants can't just be one nation's or continent's issue. It would bloody help if folks stopped starting proxy wars and dropping billions of pounds of explosives from sky, or stopped raping smaller countries for their assets.
I would never! For the sake of posterity, Hykehamtyke has liked the post at the time of writing... I suspect he will unlike it at some point when he realises it wasn't serious...
Migrant ferries. Invite them on for "processing" then dump them on the Asencion Islands. Problem solved.
The human rights commission may have a rather large issue with that. Remember someone who claims asylum has the right to live a normal life (have human rights). If its found they're here illegally then we can remove them or place them in short term detention pending their removal. By placing people on a penal colony would be against the law, especially when technically they've not committed an offence. If someone was then refused asylum whilst being placed on the island it could be argued the decision was already made before any evidence was heard and thus making the decision legally unsafe. That would lead to compensation claims. So yep that's a cracking idea.
