    On the left heading north. That would be the Cotswold Grange caravan park, right next to the River Avon. Flooded just about every year as I remember

    That's the one! Caravan park on left and sailing boats on right as the river bends round. Yeh been like that for as long as I can remember. Been driving north on that stretch for 13+ years.

    We live a few miles from Burton where the Trent floods every winter but sensibly, the washlands (so named for a very good reason) has never been built on and the defences have been improved at the edge to protect the town. Flooding has never really been a problem round here except for very localised flash floods mainly caused by poorly maintained ditches.

    Flood barriers are being built in Kendal at the moment, big concrete walls on both sides of the river through town. In parts the concrete will be glass to improve the aesthetics. Ironically this work is being done with EU funding. The application was approved while we were still in the EU and the work is going ahead now, signs look a little dated!
