    There was a distinct lack of tellies in that old Argos catalogue. Probably because back in those days most people still rented their telly. Imagine.

    My old grandad used to swear by the concept. He thought buying stuff was for idiots. But then he also refused to turn the telly over- only ever watched ITV. And he had the colour turned up so much everyone looked like they had been tango'd. Happy days.

    There's a calculator on there for £8.95 reduced from £13.99, I think I paid 16 quid for one a year earlier. Not long after they were giving them away:(
