I took it to mean the unit was seperate from the school.

Soz for the confusion, if all he has been excluded for is that, which I doubt, then you can bet he's had plenty of warnings about it before. Exclusion or sending to a special unit, is always a last step and never a first one.

RE: Has he actually been excluded?

We probably don't know the whole story.

As for resources, these 'units' are already in place in most schools so one more body to make a point isn't a drain.

The lesson that 'may' be being taught is that whilst individualism is good, at certain times we need to conform. Work place, dress code, professionalism, that kind of thing.

    Playing in sand and rounders?

So I take it your education didn't progress much after nursery?

    Bless!

I can see why you have a negative opinion of schools and teachers, they certainly failed you.

    But

Is this the one where the parents encourage the kid rather than back the school?

I'd never have even been able to have a haircut like that when I was a kid, my mum wouldn't have let me but parental discipline and responsibility seems to hardly exist anymore

I've two kids, the younger has just left after taking GCSEs. I'm very happy with the quality of education they have received (Kirk Balk). They always complied with the dress code and suprise suprise weren't in trouble. They didn't break the rules !!!</p>

A parent at the wife's school came in to say her boy had

Oppositional Defiant Disorder and so warranted specail attention. Means he doesn't do as he's told, in american social worker speak!

Jesus, parent giving the little prat an excuse to be even more objectionable than before!

It's the rest of the class that suffers then as they have to put up with the kids disruptive behaviour spoiling their education.

    you are a ****

you are basing this on what? because your mother is a teacher you think they are all the same.</p>

how would you find working in one of the worst schools in rotherham, where the kids have no respect because of the wayt they are brought up. the dont respect women as equals, they have extremist views, 1 in every 3 kids in the school believe the london bombers should be respected yet teachers should not. she teachers there every day to get the piss took all day by some little screbs who's dream is to be in the al queada. and she is a very well regarded teacher. oh and time off B*ll*cks. she is up whilst midnite some nights planning ansd sorting out what she is going to do, if anything that is her own time which should be spent with family yet she is effectively working 9 in the morning whilst twelve at night.</p>

the fact of the matter is that is her job and she does that job just as well as you do yours although if you work at the lEA that cant be very good with the standards of schools in our area. so you can get bent you *****. oh and although she might have all these troubles she says it is better than working in a boring school where the kids play by the rules. </p>

another thing she might not exactly be the cleverest person in the world like you state lower down or live on this planet, but she is the one that encouraged my schooling and that is what counts someone that is actually willing to instill things into you and help you just as she does with her own teaching and from this post you might not think it's worked very well but come august 24th i'm on for all A's.</p>

if your post was about imigrants you would be classed as a racist or a discriminator but as it's about teachers you couldnt give a ****, you think you can say what you like because you work near them. </p>

RE: School teachers don't live on the same planet as the rest of us

That's some generalisation! My Dad has taught at High Schools for over 30 years and has done a wonderful job and has never had any bother. I had some great teachers at school too.

    Seriously, that's a ridiculous post.
