Sad thing is, there will be *fans* of lots of clubs up and down the country, including our lovely selves, who will be figuring out how to 'better' this weekends incident. All for the sake of impressing their mates and getting their mugshots on TV. Peer pressure at it's very worst.
Yep even mick McCarthy wasn't too pleased with their fans that day. Worst trouble I've seen at oakwell was Liverpool in the prem. But that was mostly our fans been the aggressors outside.
At the end of the game, we (me, teenage son & daughter) were crouched behind a wall with so many bottles & bricks etc flying over our heads A daughter pleas phoning her mum at the time who wanted to speak with me - no chance!
Leeds at home 3-2 Hourihane game still remains the only game I've seen at Oakwell where fans were fighting on the pitch. And that all started cos Leeds fans were in the home end.
The problem is 100% down to the muppets on the terraces. What else do you suggest the clubs and governing bodies do to prevent this behaviour?
I remember that as well. A small section of Leeds fans were in East Stand Lower near the Ponty End and those that sit around the top corner of the Ponty were trying to get at them. A lot of the fighting was with stewards trying to prevent them getting into East Stand.
It was going on all over the ground that. Saw one lad east lower get a bit of a kicking on the pitch and managed to get away and run into the Leeds end.
Of course it is. Your stating the obvious. But also the more people get away with it or just minor repercussions then the muppets will carry on. My point is about whether the problem is being solved or left to continue. The muppets arent going to solve it themselves.
