Forgetting the dates and timescales etc I'd like to understand where we are against the target of achieving premiership football. I would suggest no further than year 1 in that 4 year plan after 3 years.

I would also suggest we are a lot longer than 3 years away.

He's said he'd like to be. I'd like to be. I'm sure every manager in the Championship/League One would like to be.

He also said in the YP at the start of this season that he wanted to be in touching distance of the play offs in January and to make a surge towards the top six at the end of the season.

There's a big difference in saying that he wants to do something and that he will.

Haven't those who have been the most vocal in wanting Davey out used Burnley as an example to those who say staying up is good enough and as?

and I've not got any details of how many players other managers in a similar position have signed over a 3 year period.

Davey's probably taken more than a few optimistic punts, mostly on cheapies, its a function of the finances. Some have worked out to varying degrees, others have failed miserably.
