I'd say some of the failures have been pretty expensive ones

given supposedlack of funds, wouldn't you? Don't think I have to list them for you as I'm sure you're well aware.

    Just a tick James,

last season our start was shocking yet on December 26th we were in 'touching distance' of the playoffs if we had a good second half to the season. We didn't ... in fact the form since then has been dire and we scrambled to survival.

Not suggesting that it will happen this year but it could

That's put the cat among the pigeons. lol

I think that Davey was wildly optimistic and got carried away with an early run of form that sadly we haven't really been able to replicate since. He's got every right to set out a idea of what his ambitions are - to pick on symantics as some have done already between 'what I will do' and 'what I'd like to do' is genuinely pedantic and irrelevant.

If you take on a job, you look to the future, you try to stay realistic, and you set yourself goals to measure yourself against. If he went on the record and said anything like 'return to the premiership in four years' it shows just how foolish he can be (especially given the fact that more than most of us would have been happy to hear him suggest that in four years we will be a stable and well established Championship side gearing ourselves up to run at the play-offs, playing attractive and entertaining football).

Remember the alleged 'box office signings' comment from Cryne? Blimey that was enough to start a holy war for some.

The fact is (fact alert - sorry) there is no way Simon Davey would have sat down with Patrick Cryne and planned it out this way. "Boss - this is the direction I'm going to take the club in - 50 signings in the next two years, leaving us with the bare bones of a first team that is worth playing, two successive relegation battles won on the final day, and we'll start the third season rock bottom after four leagues games".

Sorry - the man is failing and time is running out. The revival of this article only goes to show that he is not only failing by the standards of the average fan, but also by his own standards.

IMHO - unless the fella gets a run of genuine form (and I'm not talking a string of 'unbeaten' draws) which involves home wins and points away from home, (starting Saturday) he has to pick up his P45. Simple as.

    RE: Just a tick James,

My main feeling after the Burnley game was that we were looking good for safety but I don't think anyone seriously considered we would make a push

As you say the form since then has been dire and it's continued into this season and that's the worrying thing
