I know we haven't time if we want to avoid the drop but I think Morris and cole should have some time together up front I did see signs of a bit of understanding between them. And they need time to gel
Woodrow is a good player but think the abuse from the fans he as received means he no longer wants to try and be involved at Barnsley
By possibly making different runs & giving different options , just a thought & it was the way I was coached , to ensure movement , look for space, pull defenders out of the way to make space for others, 95 % of your game is played off the ball , you have to graft , like Morris did yesterday but up to his arrival there was not of these happening .
Name one forward pass our midfield made for the forwards to run onto ?,until Morris came on there was total side foot passing along the lines or throw a cross to back post
The best two strikers we have are Morris and Woodrow (though the latter has to get his act together). Play them in a 4-4-2 and put an extra man in to strengthen a paperweight midfield. It should be a no brainer.
I get that but I didn’t see him making many runs. And then as the game went on and he realised that wasn’t happening, he could’ve dropped deeper to get the ball. Knowing that he’s playing against (should be) inferior players. Given his age, I was shocked when we signed him. I guess the free agent part worked in his favour and we hoped his confidence would be up from his goals scoring exploits in Scotland. He should be okay next season in league 1.
A front 2 of Morris and Woodrow would be my choice. With Iseka and Cole coming on as fresh legs when needed. Although I guess Iseka would probably start on one of the wings. 3-5-2. Get it done Poya.
I can accept that but I can’t forgive him for the chance to equalise at Bristol when in the last minute it was almost impossible to miss with his header a yard out - if the defender had got to the ball before him he would have scored an own goal!
All you are doing is qualifying what I am saying , as soon as Morris came on & started to play as a striker should with movement then the forward passes started to come. you have confirmed what I am saying , the pairing of Victor & Cole offered virtually nothing & that is why we need Woodrow who has clever movement like Morris.
Morris and Woodrow yes, ‘if’ Woodrow can be disciplined enough to stop chasing the ball all over the pitch, and play alongside Morris.
But I am not saying Woodrow and Morris or victor and Morris. I am saying cole and morris but also they do need some time which at the moment is limited
