Then again I do remember our clash in 67 when we beat you to become the "New" World Champions.

I watched it on TV in a bar in Coimbra, Portugal with a group of mates. We were students at Birmingham University on a long period of study in Spain and Portugal. We weren't the most popular in town as England had beaten Portugal in the semis. By the end of the game we were on the tables, somewhat well-away on Sagres beer. That night we had the biggest pissup in memory and it nearly ended in tears. We rocketed out of yet another bar about 11 pm straight into a major religious procession that was being broadcast live on national television. The cops had us in seconds flat and hustled us up a side street. We thought we were in for a severe kicking or worse, but after holding us until the procession had gone they let us go with a warning. When we finally got back to the pensao we were living in the rest of the household was waiting up to congratulate us on our appearance on the telly. Great day, that, but hellfire hangover lasting two days.

At home watching. My dad and me snuck into a hotel (Prince of Wales in South bay I think) in Scarborough to watch the semi final as we were on our holis at the time.

    Re: Bolton on Dearne

Me, my mum and dad, auntie and uncle, had all travelled up to Scarborough for our annual hols.
We'd just arrived at the house we stayed at and I asked the lady of the house if we could watch it on their tv, they said yes so we all crammed into their sitting room to watch.
I was ten.... I remember nothing about the game.
I didn't start going to watch Barnsley until 1968.

I had only just left School and had yet to start work as an apprentice motor mechanic taking £2 18s 5d home for a 5.5 day week plus 3x 2hr evening classes at Barnsley Tech.

I watched the game on TV in good old black and white. To this day I have never been to a full senior England game. I have seen Denmark twice, Portugal and Turkey at Euro 96 and that was only because I won tickets in the Sheffield Star. The face value then was £45.

We scored 4 goals and Germany scored 2 and one off the German goals should have been disallowed for a foul in the build up. England won well that day and should have won in Mexico but there was some dirty deeds taking place.

I got a junior season ticket for that season, centre stand right behind the directors box.

£3 it cost me and the football was dire! And people complain about recent events at Oakwell. Good grief, they should have seen us in 66-67. We were lucky to top 2,000 in that period leading up to the Thomas-Evans era.

Watched it on our brown bacolite telly which my dad had bought on the never never just for the final.
After the final whistle played footie on the street pretending to be Geoff Hurst.

Probably the same - one of the old style tvs that was probably too heavy for the shelf it was on. Black and white of course.

I remember when the film "Goal, World Cup 1966" came out and you could see it at the pictures IN COLOUR. Quantum leap in football telly watching!

Griffin Inn, Sheffield Road (where Alhambra bus stop is now). My best mate's dad was landlord and they had a bigger telly than my folks.

I had just turned 9. Father had got a cheap TV from radio rentals but omitted to have enough half crowns to hand to keep the electric meter alive so we got the first half and a bit of the second when I came back from the beer off with more brass. All this happened at 7 Rock Street. The old Rock Street that went up and down rather than side to side.

I watched "Goal..." in Port Harcourt. Trouble was they got the reels mixed up and we saw the start of the second half, followed by the end of the first!

6 months old, sat in front of the telly with my dad, his mate and his daughter. My mum was working; my Dads only job that day was to go to the CoOp and butchers, then he could enjoy the game. In his excitement, he left me in my pram outside the butchers and went home.
