Rosco....that few quid you mention is about £300

Some people haven't got that money to throw at a project and know they are not going to get anything in return
Think of what you are saying

And all the - it will be all reight brigade - on here are in the minority
    And, i don't lie
People who I have spoken to are not happy with what has happened so far in the close season
This close season could have been used to sell more STs to get the home crowd back over the 10k mark towards the 12 - 14K mark. With the away following this would have given us a decent attendence.
Instead this close season (so far) has been a PR disaster.

Yes and if 1,000 make their investment of £300 each then we can finance a new player which will bring in more ST buyers. It's chicken and egg.</p>

Also people always moan at this time of year 'we've not signed so and so' or 'what the f have we signed so and so for' it's the nature of a footie fan.</p>

Right finally, and don't try to fudge this nudge, if you were GS now with the resources he has got what exactly would you do and how would you finance it? </p>

Remeber you can't commit to players you can't finance out of your current position.  </p>

i agree that if there were a couple of big name signings, the 'not sures' would probably go and buy season ticketc, of course they would.

but look at it this way, the club sells x thousand season tickets anyways, most of the people who would buy them, have bought them. buy a couple of bums on seats players for 200k each (dount you can get the bums on seats type of player for any less), plus wages for the year, making a total of (including wages) lets say 550k (conservative).

550k divided by £300 per season ticket, equals 1833 season tickets.

so, for this bums on seats mean more cash to work, these 2 extra players would have to convince 1833, 'maybes' to buy season tickets, i dont reckon that would happen - there arent that many out there, therefore, the club wouldnt break even.

You never mentioned anything about money being a concern, their concern was over there being no big name signings. Well, this is Barnsley, we don't do big name signings, we are a small town team, thats why you watch them. What you get in return is a feeling that your home town has a football club who are doing all right for themselves. What happens if you don't support them is that you end up without a football club.

Given that we have just been promoted from the a lower div and had a great day out in Cardiff with 20k plus supporters turning up, why didn't a few of them get season tickets, maybe they didn't want to. Maybe even if we had signed Jesus and Mohammed to play up front they wouldn't have bothered. Your mates who have said the reason they aren't getting ST's due to the lack of ambition are basically telling porkies, fact is they can't be arsed to get an ST but they are hiding behind their cover story to make themselves feel better. Shame on them and you.

I'll tell you what is a PR disaster, people like you who spread despair and dissent where there is none. the season has not yet started and you are already saying it is over. Well, lets just vote ourselves back down to Div. Godknowswhatitscallednowadays without a fight and have done with it.

There's a name for folk like you - French.

Thing is Rosco YOU are being Pro-active

about Barnsley, whilst Nudger and his ilk are being extremely Re-active.</p>

All credit to you and as you say, much scorn and shame on those who feel they are that important that they will only buy a season ticket when Barnsley have somehow found the money to buy players of the calibre that they feel they deserve.</p>

We support Barnsley Football Club come what may.</p>

No wonder why we lost playing against 451.

Wasn't it a bit crowded around the middle of the pitch.</p>

I bet there were loads of offsides.</p>

    And Nads wasn't even playing.</p>

Of course the "alreight brigade" are in the minority,

the BBS is only a minority of the fans that follow BFC!

I would like to see the team strengthened a bit more but I don't want to see too much pressure put on the Board or the Players to perform just because a few "fans" are negative.

Constructive criticism is much better than negative. I still think the people in charge of BFC know what they are doing and that as fans we will have to wait and see what happens.
I haven't been watching Barnsley for long but my dad has. He tells me that Barnsley are much better now than they were when he first started going to watch them with my Grandad.
If the players from the Academy want a run in the first team then they have to earn that right just as Mr Ritchie has to give them a chance. He said that the players at BFC should be given a chance so let's give them that chance.

BTW I haven't got a season ticket, I would like one but for me to go mum needs to go so as well as dad's ST we would need 2 more and can't afford 3. Also seeing as I asm ill I can't get to every match so I go (with Mum) when I can.

not that many offsides from us to be honest!

Cant remember any to be honest. But we were toothless upfront with the lone striker.

In that case I suggest you go out and talk with people about how they feel about the lack of quality signings.Lots do not place the blame on Ritchie because it is generally felt by some that he has'nt the backbone to stand up to shepherd to sign quality players. remember some of the comments made by shuker about this who's in charge and I don'nt mean the manager. One noticeable thing about shepherd is that he will get rid of anyone who challenges him and in my opinion that is why Ritchie dare not. I did and so did another guy on different occasions challenge him with some awkward questions and although the approach and subject was reletively passive shepherd could'nt hack it walked away.(kissmyass) (kissmyass) (kissmyass) (kissmyass)

All I have stated are facts that I have obtained from the Company's accounts.</p>

Ritchie will have been given the level of the budget within which he must work so as for 'backbone', this is not a 'macho' thing. GS is his boss and he should treat him with the respect that deserves.</p>
