... (not a proper fan alert!!) having not seen any matches this season... but who was the pony-tailed 'waste of space' caught ball watching (and who had the acceleration properties matching those of an oil tanker) down the left allowing the run on goal for their first? Diabolical defending IMHO (not that I know much about football you understand)

Totally fair. He had the run on him because whilst they were attacking he was slowly jogging back. It isn't that Hernandez beat him once the pass was played it's that he made no attempt at all to get into a defensive position when they went forward. Hernandez ran forward, Williams strolled

Just because someone's faster than you, it doesn't mean you can't catch them. Positioning is key. Otherwise I'd never have caught a bus in my life.

I'm sure he's a good lad but that was a pathetic pack of effort from him

I remember Adama Traore beating Pinillos to a long ball a few years back. Traore must have had a 25 yard start.
Poor Dani looked like he was going backwards.

I know it’s of topic but a good mate of mine in a carpet fitter and every time he starts talking about work and he mentions underlay I can’t help repeating underlay! Underlay! In that speedy Gonzales voice…childish I know

I don't believe that a match turns on one incident but that was a pretty poor piece of defending to all but a blind man.

Makes all the difference in the world. Our hall carpet recently had to be replaced. The carpet was still good despite being down for 23 years, but the underlay had crumbled to dust! You used to have to go for the finest variant of Tredaire you could afford but these days it all seems to be thick (hopefully hard-wearing) generic stuff. Anyway, if this one does 23 years it will probably see me out!

Daz Barnard and before him Neil Thompson did all right without a great deal of pace, as you say, there's more to it then just being quicker or slower, its anticipation, positioning at what your job is.

I thought the second goal was even worse & I know Collins is popular but the way he waved a hand at the cross was pathetic , he needed to punch it , claim it with both hands or plough through the lot of them but he just waved a white flag & hey presto 2 nil game over , both goals were very preventable .

Poor Dani Pinillos. Anyone would think he played on crutches the way people used to talk about him :D
