Sorry Whitey, I've tried biting my tongue but I can't. You could probably call the run from Cardiff to Wycombe our greatest ever run. Certainly at this level but since than we've lost three out of eight and played very poorly in five of those games and I include Middlesbrough in that because we didn't look like we had the remotest clue how to break them down for an hour until we fluked a goal direct from a corner and opened the game up. in my view we go into the play offs in average form which may be just the same as can be said for the other three. We've done fantastically well this season. Massively over achieved against expectations and huge credit should be given to staff and players but I'm much less optimistic about our chances after our recent run. I hope the lads can dig deep and reproduce some of the superb performances we have witnessed this season. If they do we have every chance.
We cant play bormuff in semis although theyve lost there last 2 ive no idea whats gonna happen.coyr.am excited and scared when i think about it.
We're not in good form???? We've more wins in the last 18 games than we have most seasons in the last 21 years in the Championship
The one thing I’m worried about is our lack of goals, we haven’t exactly blown teams apart, when we probably should have. At some point I always thought we were gonna hammer someone & put 4, 5, or 6 to past them. This could be our downfall over 2 legs.
I'm not arsed about putting 4 or 5 past teams ill.be happy if we score 1 more goal than the opposition in 3 play off games.
Of the games I've seen, only the QPR home game have I thought we should have hammered a team. That could easily have been 8 or 9 with the gilt edged chances we created. Since then, even if the shot count is high, we've not opened teams up, the quality of chances has been speculative or putting it into the mixer rather than cutting teams open with frequency. I've never really felt we had a long period of intense pressure (other than harrying the opponent into a mistake) where a goal was coming. My feeling is we're going to get absolutely smashed over 2 legs.
One by one for sure ,,,,,but the stats over the last 10 or 46 games matter not one jot. The next 2 / 3 games are cup games. Owt could happen. Funny game football.
No one Will get smashed. We are very evenly matched sides. Bournemouth can't defend balls in the box. Brentford's passing around the back can cause problems against the high press. The 4 four teams have their flaws, but we're all here for a reason.
I hope I'm wrong, but we're probably on a par with Swansea for lack of skilful creativity but well behind the other two. The last half dozen games I've seen, Huddersfield aside, we've been very poor, with and without the ball. But we've got results somehow. But on top of that our play without the ball has lacked intensity. Hardly surprising, but if its off against any of those 3, I suspect a pasting.
are you really? This week we've had: - We don't win enough games - We're on a poor run of form - We don't beat teams by enough goals - We play anti-football - We'll get smashed in the playoffs Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, although.... - We've won 13 of the last 18 games - We've won 23 games all season, our second highest 2nd Tier total - It will be our best finish for 21 years at this level - We've smashed all 2nd Tier records this season from wins on the trot, away wins on the trot, consecutive minutes without going behind......I could go on some people are never happy
I don't think form will be as much an issue this year. No team has really mad a late charge into the top 6, with the four teams settled with two games to go, and probably sitting in the top 6 for a month or so. The nearest to that would be Bournemouth, but they lost two after winning 7 in a row. Plus the reasonable gap between the last game and the first leg. The conundrum to solve is that we seem to score more goals with Woodrow, Morris and Dike on the pitch, but our better performances have come with either Chaplin (Brentford away) or Frieser (Bournemouth away) playing.
Yes we've lost 3 from the last 8, but we still picked up 1.625ppg, or a 75 point season. Average form?
I don't see a drop to be honest. Boro at Home was just like Forest at Home. Rotherham at Home was just like Birmingham at Home. It's just what we do. We're a grinding team and a horrible side to play against. We press, press, press. We have 3 Big centre halves with Morris + Dike up top making us physically superior. Brentford and Bournemouth might be prettier but neither Will fancy playing us.
Yep. Average. I'd be quite happy with that return in a normal season. It's not really the ppg that worries me but some of the performances. Anyway..fingers crossed for a Hudders/Bournemouth type display in the play offs then we'll take some beating.
