Its going legal this, and this decision will have done F1 a huge amount of damage.

 

Well, I won't be watching it anymore if it stands.

 

Lewis was leading with a few laps to go. Max was a long way back with lapped cars between them. Safety car came out and max pitted, Lewis didn't, so max had brand new fast tyres on.
With 1 lap left the race director sent the lapped cars to overtake the safety car making it Lewis 1 and max 2 with no gap at all (as safety car bunches them up) on brand new tyres max just breezed past Lewis who couldn't do anything.

 

What a con.

 

Not what I am saying if you state that cars should unlap themselves and then only allow the first 5 to do so then stop the rest that is NOT in the rules. that is race fixing..

 

Be interesting to see analysis of it all, I think the lapped cars should have been allowed to unlap themselves but the decision to just allow some to unlap themselves was wrong.

 

I don't believe he bent the rules but in his haste to try to give the season a proper ending he certainly didn't apply them in the moral way. As usual with him making things up on the fly he ballsed it all up

 

What a joke of a sport. Hilarious.

Any casual viewer turning on to watch that (me included, although I watched a lot in years gone by) will be like "What the **** was that all about?"

 

As just pointed out , all lapped cars did nt un lap themselves . They just let the 5 through in-between max / Lewis then started the race . Stunning .

 

Hamilton was leading by 12 seconds and had 5 cars in between him and second . until a car crashed, the stewards then made the 5 cars move out of the way and restarted the race on the final lap with the 2nd placed car side by side to Lewis.

 

I think that makes sense to me apart from the lapped cars bit. So Lewis and Max had lapped all the other cars during the race? What does the race director sending them to overtake the safety car mean? What were Lewis and Max doing whilst that happened?

 

On reflection I have to agree with this you can't just let some unlap themselves that makes no sense.

 

That can be just as bent, seen too many riders and certain teams get preferential treatment over the years.
Max reminds me of Max Biaggi, another lunatic who forcibly made many riders have big offs. No wonder he got a few black eyes over the years.

 

Ah right, thank you. I don't know the rules to know if that's what usually happens but it certainly sounds unfair.

 

They changed their own rules to get a last racing lap.
I must admit, my understanding of current rules are a bit sketchy. I rely on commentators.
Nothing can change the result, as there are no teams to penalise. Someone at F1 will lose their job..
Crap way to end a good season.

 

Safety cars do bunch up the field as it slows everyone down, however the only letting the cars in between 1&2 go past to make sure there was a full lap with verstappen and Hamilton side by side smacks of F1 wanting a grandstand finish to a race that in reality was already won by Hamilton

 

I believe that Michael Masi has breached regulation 48.12



"Once the last lapped car has passed the leader the safety car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap"

 

Seems a bit rubbish of sky to say who's won during the football, bet there will be sone that want to watch it later. Also makes me laugh that they've not apologised once for bad language despite it being pre watershed like they usually do, can't they understand a Geordie accent?
