So we agree then. Rules are rules and thus they should be followed. So a five second penalty to Verstappen.

I think the day is coming when he’s going to end up with either him or another driver in hospital, it was close when he drove on to the top of Hamilton. His saving grace maybe there’s only Hamilton who can push him, so when he’s no longer around he won’t be racing anyone as close.
Such a mess. If they give Max a 5 second penalty for the SC incident, Red Bull will appeal the incident at the start, and I could see the stewards giving it just to even things up. This will be a tainted title for whoever eventually ends up with the trophy. From what I can gather, Red Bull were really desperate for this title because the change in regs next season is taking the cars into a low rake design, and they think they are going to be playing catchup to the likes of Merc and Aston Martin who have used the low rake design for years.
Masi didn't want to finish this race behind a safety car, but was happy to declare Spa a 'race', for three laps, behind a safety car.
I must not have been posting much around then. I've always enjoyed F1, I think almost everyone on this thread would have better decision that Masi the last few races. Hearing him on the radio now doesn't help because we can hear how lost and muddled he is.
I honestly don’t see that. Wolff gets loads of attention on Sky Sports too. I’ve only watched last couple of seasons so don’t have all of the history but that’s the way I see it.
That’s a massive exaggeration. And he couldn’t check on him as he was still trying to drive off, although I’m not sure he would have either way. Max has gone too far on numerous occasions this season, but let’s keep the discussion real.
Loko's right he's got lots of media friends. The Sky lot really don't like Mercedes, they don't hide it either. The likes of Rosberg can't be asked for a balance argument. Today he couldn't help getting in a further jab because of his perceived treatment by them, when discussing Bottas. Button's a good little soldier like Hill and will always side with FIA. They enjoy their access and roles so won't rock the boat on an issue like this.
Max on numerous occasions this season should have been sanctioned for his behaviour. Yet the FIA have bottled it time and again. Until he smashes himself up or seriously hurts another driver nothing will change.
It's slightly different in this case though, from what I hear he was under pressure to have a last lap rather than have it settled under the safety car...it's effectively like the ref deciding unilaterally to add Fergie time to make it a grandstand finish.
The ending was more like a world cup final. Team A is winning 2-0 in added on time. Ref is about to blow the full time whistle and says actually lets have a pen shootout, but Team A can't have a goalkeeper.
They have painted themselves in a corner now. Whichever ever way they go to get out will be bad. The rules were not followed and as such the result is mired in controversy. If they overturn it now it will look shambolic for the sport. Masi has made a fine mess of things here, I do feel for him and perhaps the system around his job were wrong too and he's left to decide too much on the fly. WHAT.A.MESS
it’s undoubtedly better for the FIA and F1 in general for Max to win. To say it’s fixed is a little unfair but it’s not far off the mark. Still disgusted with todays events.
Jennie Gow - BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporter The teams went into a meeting with the race director. I can tell you that Mercedes took a barrister with them. The head honchos from both race teams appeared before the stewards. They then came out, Christian Horner looked at me, winked, broke into a little smile and carried on walking. Then I heard they have just adjourned the meeting and will reconvene in eight minutes. I can say it's highly unusual for Mercedes to have brought a barrister to the race track but it was for exactly this kind of scenario.
