I'm still trying to get rid of all my 37 Mixu Paatelainen 'swaps' from 1990.

Thanks for the links! I did like a few songs by Pete and the Pirates, 'Mr. Understanding' for example is one of the most fun songs that I've heard in my life, but I didn't really find their albums interesting enough. This song is pretty good though, so maybe I'll check out some more stuff by them on Spotify or something...

That Meilyr Jones track however sounds a lot more interesting. It's more "Goodbye Falkenburg" than "Furniture" which is a good thing and probably explains why Race Horses split up so soon after "Furniture". There seem to be a few other Meilyr songs on Youtube too, they also sound quite good. Definitely looking forward to the new album.

By the way, have you got any of the Radio Luxembourg stuff on mp3? I can't find their CDs anywhere but what little I've heard from them has been pretty good. It'd be great to hear more of these songs. Also, are you familiar with H.Hawkline's music? It sounds like something that you might like...

Ditto regarding Lightspeed Champion however for some reason his Blood Orange stuff doesn't really do it for me. I've only listened to the first album - and there's a few decent tracks on it - but I naturally find myself comparing it wrongly to the Lightspeed Champion work and it's sadly lacking. I've been meaning to check out his more recent stuff as I see it's been getting good press so there's still hope :)

Yes, Mr Understanding is a very fun pop song. I don't think that's the sound that Teleman are going for sadly. Ah well.

The new Meilyr stuff is a lot more my cup of tea. Very Dexy's sounding in places (Searching for the Young Soul Rebels era).

I also love the Radio Luxembourg stuff. It's pretty much the same band as Race Horses really. I think they had to change their name due to copyright issues. Their early singles and EPs are on Spotify but I presume that physical copies are very difficult to get hold of now.

Finally, H Hawklike - I like his more upbeat stuff and his Ghouls EP but I was a bit disappointed with the recent album (In The Pink of Condition). It's OK but not something I'd go back to much. I saw him the other year in Sheffield supporting Cate Le Bon and that was a bit of a subdued affair. Still, he remains on my radar!

I checked out the Blood Orange stuff again recently. Quite surprised to find a Mansun cover pop up midway through the album!
