Because they showed ambition which is more than we have shown for years now.

Yeah, and I think that's what Menai was also suggesting lol.
When I keep hearing of us missing out on possible targets, to other so called lesser clubs.
It makes me wonder what sort of reputation we might have now as a club. Because of how this lot choose to run things.

It’s all down to the wages we are willingly to pay, but unfortunately the way football is going in general we will only have a European super league to look forward to and the death of of lower league football

While I wouldn't dispute that we need to bring one or two forward players in, I think it's pretty obvious that Cosgrove will score goals if given proper service, plus he'll create plenty as well due to the nuisance factor. We just didn't play to his strengths until the playoffs.

Can you name me some people for whom this approach has worked? People who have put a load of money into a football club and got a return on their investment, ending up with more money than they started with?

This often raises it's head on here. Spend more to get better players and roll the dice that promotion comes up or spend within the budget and hope we find some diamonds in the rough. Many if us feel we've wasted too much money on punts like Dallas,Belgian's Shaw etc. If you suggest spending more the other response is your trying to bankrupt the club..the reality for me is it's somewhere in the middle. Better team equals bigger crowds and longer cup runs, more on merchandising and more TV exposure I think were over cautious but should keep the squad numbers tight. cut waste invest in team. ...but I could be proven wrong if the youngsters from development come through who knows.

So would you rather we paid over the odds for a player, just to "show some ambition"?

I dunno John. He had one and a half outstanding games in the playoffs, but he was Dave Regis levels of bilge for months. I really hope you're right because it appears we are going to be very reliant on him

I'm afraid I just don't see a player there. I'll be absolutely delighted and first to hold my hands up though if I'm proven wrong.

I’m hoping to see some of the academy players come through this year. I’d like to see Jalo and Marsh get a proper go . Let’s find out if they’re good enough.

I agree. Cosgrove was Player Of The Match at Bolton and did well in the home leg, but he had looked pretty hopeless before that. He might do well this coming season, but I find it hard to be confident, based on what I have seen so far.

Oh, he looked absolutely atrocious for most of the season, I agree. But we were so clearly not playing to his strengths that it's hardly surprising. He's a limited player but I still believe he has something to offer. Changed the game away at Lincoln when he came on and we started using him as a target man. However, the idea of partnering him with Watters is laughable.

We need to see more of Cosgrove. We can’t make assumptions based on the play offs alone he was beyond terrible for the whole season. I can’t see a team being top 6 relying on Cosgrove to score goals.

Bournemouth owner, Brentford owners, Ipswich.there a lot of positive examples. I don’t want us to go down that route but ultimately it’s the teams that invest in wages that gain success

Our strike force looks horrible. It was poor last season, and we’ve since lost Cole and McAtee. I don’t think there’s ten goals between Cosgrove and Watters. Obviously I hope I’m wrong.

The people who put the money in have since taken more out than they originally put in? Have you got a link where that is detailed.

I think Cosgrove has proved in the past that he can do it at this level, Plymouth and Aberdeen, so hopefully he can hit those levels again now he's had a settling season with us. He looked the part at back end of season, hopefully he'll kick on.

I do think he can at least be the battering ram up front. If we're to bring a striker in it needs to be a pacey player that can work off him.

Sporting success maybe your aim. That’s the return on your investment. Saudis at Man City. Their aim was not to make money it was to buy success so they have 100 speculated at accumulated. The guys at Wrexham they are achieving their aims

but if you want personal success The Glaziers billions spent at Man U. More taken out and sold part of it for further billions. So them If you are specifically talking about money which is incredibly reductive. Ipswich if they banked all the money from the premier league would easily ‘make money’.
